Now that we have 10, if MM can go, we could theoretically play the way K did down in Rio. He kept the starter with the hot hand and replaced the other 4 all at once. Each unit had the chance to get hot. JB was on that bench. Might he try platoon substitution, at least during OOC against non-P5 2nd tier competition, like Georgetown? Paypal did it with limited success but he substituted all 5 at once. K's system worked much better.

I thought this was going to be about Jimmy's war face :(

We did the "hockey line change" a bit during MCW's Frosh season, and our 2nd unit was a legit D1 team, that probably could have won a lot of games.

That didn't stop JB from nailing MCW's ass to the pine during the conference season.

You know how Boeheim do.

JB does not bend with the wind but he is not obstinate. He processes new info but only accepts what is worthwhile. Proof is in his record over time. In the gold medal game Durant stayed in but the other four platooned. The second unit was hot and team USA piled it on. JB had to be impressed. I would not be surprised if he tried a wholesale substitution, say 3 or 4 at a time. On the Olympic team, the second unit said that they formed a bond in terms of learning to play together and became a more solid unit as a result. On the other hand, when Paypal substituted 5 at a time, the team tanked.

This is an 8 man rotation team. Thompson and Moyer are the odd men out. Moyer might not even be healthy enough to play.

He will have four guys ahead of him. If he sees time it's not a good thing. In meaningful games...

Lydon 33
White 31
Battle 31
Roberson 25
Gillon 23
Howard 21
Coleman 17
Chukwu 19
Well, the math works.

Those are odd numbers. Literally.

But seriously, that type of balance spread eight deep would be unprecedented for JB. I think he will ride Lydon a bit more, but the minutes for all others will be up for grabs.
