Players SU can’t afford to lose this offseason

When did that change, are we going to need to literally cut ties with a lot of players, especially with such a large class coming in let alone not one signed transfer portal player yet? I do not see how that could occur did we miss the bus again?
I ain’t happening

We only offer one year deals. All reports are saying Angeli is doing very well in his recovery.
I can't us putting up almost $5 million for a just in case QB let alone a kid that has not real snaps...we don't want another Collins.
100% true. But we need do to find a solid portal qb that can keep the train rolling, so as to not be caught with our pants down again next year if it comes to that.

Agreed, we need to go the route Mississippi St did and look at the D2 or other leves for a kid that is hungry to come to a P4 school and won't mind being a back up.

With schools now providing around $13-$15 million dollars to NIL, nothing will come cheap. The competition will be fierce. Some schools may just focus on a couple of positions to fill weaknesses on their team. If you need a high quality quarterback, you will have to overpay. Fran needs at least another $8-10 million dollars to keep the players he wants and still have funds available to get high quality, difference makers in the portal. Schools looking to hire new coaches are being told by coaches they want $30 million for rosters. I wouldn’t count on getting top level portal players. It appears Fran is looking at some JUCO players. They might come at a cheaper price.
Sorry to harp on this a bit, but no schools are offering NIL money. All schools seem to be offering revenue share, and roughly the same share at that, so it pretty much neutralizes the impact, unless your school is NOT sharing that revenue. NIL is totally separate and over and above revenue share. NIL can be "whatever for whatever" and that is why the NCAA tried to set up the clearinghouse. I am not sure the clearinghouse is working or will work, because as it is tied to the core meaning of NIL, there is almost no real or fair way to assign value to it.

I believe walk ons were grandfathered this year. That’s why rosters are larger. It won’t be in place next year.

Players can't officially enter the portal until January. Unless the coach got fired.
Okay, thank you. I do understand that however I was referencing the 85 player scholarship limit. Did that not recently increase? It would seem that we are way over that especially with the incoming class, graduating class and potential portal class, no? In any event definitely sort of crazy about there in relation to current college athletics, goodness, academics and just plain loyalty to a great University such as this should account for something. Otherwise it is literally a free agent frenzy, Which will ultimately damage the game and most importantly the student athlete... I believe fans will also become very weary except those who win every year because of built in advantages

I fully expect Fran to bring back the main core of players. And be extremely active with the portal this off season. He’s been kinda against it and wants to build the team in high school players (hence the large recruiting classes with high school players) but Fran knows he needs to win big next year with the schedule. The two classes he brought in will be a year older, we get our QB back. A top 30 class coming in. You bring a sting portal class, especially in the trenches and secondary. We should be good next year. Shake up the coaching staff a bit (especially Elijah) and we will be good next year. We would have been good this year if Angeli didn’t get hurt.

Frans biggest strength is recruiting (which we all know) and player relationships so that means recruiting the players already on the team that he wants to stay. And you see after EVERY game a lot of the studs on other teams go out of their way to talk with Fran cause they respect him. We’ll be in on players you won’t expect this off-season like caliber of player. We need to upgrade the safeties. We are set at corner with Peal, Samuels and Kerr. We’ll be fine at linebacker with AD, Bryant and McDonald. Safety, O-line and D-line NEED to be a priority and Fran knows that

we have maybe 2 or 3 underclassmen who could step into a major program and start . those big money powerhouses will offer a lot of cash to those few and the chance to play for a national contender.

Unless our RB is named Barry Sanders, there was no running back that was going to look good in this offense post Angeli injury. Defenses could play more packed in without any kind of QB throwing threat. Willis still found some tough yards . I still think Willis is important for us next year.

Biggest issue is any other team running rpo still blocks people backwards or tries except us. P.s. we don’t throw rpo anyways so block downhill for craps sake lol
