That play call was McFckit-esque.

I’m pretty sure he’s done that even with GS in quite a few times on short yardage plays over the course of the year.

I've been wondering all season whether having both Anae and Beck on the sideline is a disadvantage compared to having someone calling plays with the press box view of the field. How many P5 teams don't have their lead offense coach in the press box?

I just don't see how A & B are seeing the trends the defense is throwing at us from the field view. I suppose some GA might be in the press box, but don't we want our experience decision maker (who has seconds to make a call) with that view?

That 3rd and goal call looks like it must have been made before it was realized just how close the ball was spotted to the goal line. It's 3rd down. And very close. I think anyone looking down with that view would be thinking QB sneak. Twice if necessary.

Is it possible Carlos isn't ready to run a QB sneak? He barely ran the ball at all in this game.

You usually like to take points early in a game but when you’re that close, I would have taken two shots at a QB sneak. There’s no way CDRW can’t run that play even if he’s not practiced it a lot. Guy was a highly touted QB, he can run a QB sneak.

As far as barely running the ball. People have anointed him as a guy who can run and I haven’t thought that at all. He can clearly run but it’s not natural and as instinctive as it is for GS and was for ED. He had an easy 1st down run to the right side on one play and almost threw a pass over the line of scrimmage for a penalty but had an incompletion regardless. His instinct isn’t to run because he’s more of a passing QB despite what’s been said by some on here.

What ever happened to that play to the TE that we used to use a lot from dungey daya

I like the QB taking the ball and jumping and holding it across the goal line that is the one that can't be stopped and you can't really fumble it either.

Teams are really good at goal line stops these days and selling out.

If you're gonna put an OL back there as a blocker (Hoeh) just run behind him.

Tbh I see him getting chewed out all the time but Anae but he's not ready for the role he's in and not in a position to succeed.

A little off topic, but I've always wondered why every coaching staff at SU since Marrone left has not copied and had available the Tank package that Marrone and Hackett invented, which put Adonis Ameen-Moore at running back and linebacker Lewellyn Coker at fullback (the hardest hitting player in the team).

I'm pretty sure Coker also caught a TD pass out of that formation.

If I recall correctly, UVA fans posted here that Anae was pretty great. It would drive fans. It’s with some of his calls to start a drive and near the goal line.

It’s funny, almost every fan we’ve had come on here from previous programs to tell us about coaches we’ve gotten. They’ve all been almost dead on right.

If the opponent is on our one foot line, im THRILLED if they pitch it backwards. Maybe they still get in, but that would feel like they’re giving us a chance to make a play.

Don’t do what you’d want the opponent to do in the same circumstance.
