Still no cause?

Sheer speculation, but my dad died of a heart attack at age 51. Lawrence was very happy with his move to D.C. Doubt very strongly it was drugs. I am betting it was his heart. He was “found.” Died alone. My own heart is broken. Heart attacks are a quick “easy” way to die for the sufferer, and a fairly ghastly shock to the loved ones. So very sorry for his family.

I loved him so much, but I must say, his calling the time out we didn’t have during the tournament was something that haunted me for a while. Arkansas went on to win the National Championship. I can’t imagine how he must have felt. God bless him. I even wrote a song about our loss, to the tune of “What becomes of the broken hearted?” (Who has a team that’s now departed.)

He leaves behind a mourning community. I hope he knew how much people loved him when he was alive. I think he did.

I’m irrationally annoyed that Moten’s passing isn’t on the home page of ESPN.com (you have to go to the men’s college basketball page) but this earth-shattering story is on the home page…

One of my prized possessions is this picture. I got Poetry to sign it with the caption "making MJ my bitch" He cracked up when I asked him to do it. He did it and then later he came up to me and asked that I never share that picture of the autograph and the caption out of respect to Jordan but he did say it was funny. He was an amazing human being that happened to be an amazing basketball player also.

Those were the days, my friend. We thought they would never end.

Cuse had a great run as a basketball powerhouse. Can we hope that this year is not a disappointment. I know there won't be another Lawrence Moten, but just give us at least one guy that we will be talking about in 30 years.

We lost to them the year after Arkansas won the championship. UCLA beat Arkansas in 95. Missouri beat us in 94 when Red went for 30 in the second half of the overtime loss.

This is awful news. It got me thinking how you lose track of these guys when they leave and retire unless they coach.

So what was his situation? Obviously had some daughters…he just moved to DC? Did he work? What did he do? Was he married? Did he coach?

Obviously a shocker.

I’ve seen few players here who were as ready as Lawrence from Game 1.

Somehow it seemed like he’d always been out there.

Very few had that instinctual ability to always be in the right place at the right moment.

He made a hard game look easy.
