Poetry in Motion...

I literally bought a vintage cursive script jersey of him over the summer.

I was born in 1982, so I was a bit too young to be emotionally attached to our players from the 80s. The Autry/Moten/Wallace era is what really began my love affair with SU basketball.

As others have mentioned, there was a coolness to his game (George Gervin-esque) that will perhaps never be replicated here. I'm confident SU will do something special at a game this year to honor his legacy.

I know we hate each other 99% of the time, but for whatever it's worth, the Boneyard has a very kind and respectful thread about him going.
Club 82 here too.

Man, this one hurts. If you’re a kid of a certain age that grew up in cuse, Lawrence Moten was an icon. The amount of kids that I played against at all the Syracuse parochial elementary schools in the early-to-mid-90’s that wore their socks high like him was overwhelming. We all wanted to play like him. To be as cool as him. What a sad day. RIP, Poetry.

Thankfully he saw his jersey raised in the dome, so well deserved. This loss is a shock and gut punch for sure. 💔
Hard to believe that was eight years ago. Seems like yesterday. Everything about him was special. Was the star of some really fun teams. Glad I had the opportunity to watch him play for four years. Prayers to his family and friends.
