NCST for me. Kind of bittersweet as this will be the last Syracuse event I attend. Will be moving to the Philippines shortly after and I'm not sure if or when I will be visiting again.

Hey, we played Louisville in Tokyo once. You never know.

Wes Durham has done so many Cuse games he should just buy a downtown condo.

I'm betting a Nooner or 12:30...two NE schools thing

We are looking forward to both the Ohio & V.Tech games.

The plan is to drive to Kentucky to watch my nephew play in a football game Friday night. His dream is to play football for Syracuse. After the game, we will drive to Athens for the tailgate and Ohio game. It will be the first SU football game my nephew has attended in person & obviously his first tailgate. He has a Syracuse fan site on Instagram that is really well done. He does it all from his phone and has some pretty prominent SU alum as followers. I encourage everyone to check out (@Cuseaccess).

The V.tech game is simply to soak in the pregame atmosphere, although I suspect is is not quite the same as during the Beamer years.

Going to Ohio, a change of pace and I will not have been to an Orange clash for about 20 months . Had fun a few years back at Akron . Maybe NCState as well , a friend has a membership at a course/s in Cary so it will include some November golf if I go.

The home team always had such an incredible advantage every year we played them in the 90s and early 2000s.
Two unique stadiums: Altitude vs Indoors.

Mark, can I assume that the hotel room situation is very limited on gameday weekends in Blacksburg? Do visiting fans usually stay in the Roanoke area and then drive over?

Yes I found that hotel rooms were extremely extremely limited.

most hotels are already booked up and the ones that’s are left are pricey to say the least.

Mark I am sure will have a great suggestion on where to stay besides Blacksburg

Stupidity at work. I confused painsville with zainesville. Booked hotel and checked my drive time and it was still almost 4 hours away.....switched to Parkersburg accommodations, now a more comfortable 42 minutes.

Didn’t know Blacksburg was that far above sea level. Learn something every day !!
Blacksburg is about 2080 feet above sea level.

Pittsburgh is about 1370 feet. Guessing Heinz Field is probably a bit lower than that (seems close to a low point) but still quite impressive.

Atlanta is about 1050 feet. That surprised me.

Winston-Salem is about 900.

Clemson is about 725.

The Carrier Dome is about 600.

Charlottesville, VA is about 594.

Louisville is about 466.

Chapel Hill is about 486.

Durham is about 404.

Raleigh is about 315.

Chestnut Hill is about 282.

Tallahassee is about 205.

Miami Gardens is about 7.

Superdome is minus 20. Not sure at what point altitude has noticeable effect. Might get extra few yards on your drive at Hokie National Golf Club.

The first few times you sprint at high altitude, you get winded faster. Eventually the body produces more red blood cells to compensate for the thinner air - but not in one day.

Oh, punts fly further, too.

I have to confess. I voted for Ohio because I believe it's the road game we have the best chance of winning.

I have a wedding in Charlottesville on October 16. That put the Clemson game in serious doubt for me, but may have a creative solution. Booked hotel in C'ville for Friday and Saturday night. Wife will drive down with her sister on Friday. We're going to head to Virginia Beach for the week, should be quiet during the offseason and we can hope for some slightly above average weather. Then into Blacksburg the day before the Va. Tech game. Booked hotel in Christianburg - says it's 7 miles away. Challenge will be spending the entire week with my wife and my sister-in-law chatting about anything BUT football, so I'll be more than ready for the tailgate in B'burg!

Polls closing in 30 mins...

Of course the absentee ballots need to be counted ;-)

Eric15 not sure where you are driving from. The issue is October 23rd is primetime leaf peeping along I-81 and ofcourse VTech brings fans in from NoVA and the Tidewater too using hotels. Let me know here or via PM what time you could leave on Friday and where you are driving from. Also your budget has a big affect on it. I can sleep about anywhere when traveling by myself... bringing my wife she sets a higher bar.

If you are coming from Syracuse one option is to book Fri/Sat nights further north like in the Winchester to Harrisonburg area. A noon kickoff is the issue with that plan though unless you don't mind getting up super early...so be flexible with bookings you can cancel.

I found out the hard way it’s tourism peak season for that region. Book early

The final tally is not so good for Tally

VaTech 39 votes (old archival we haven't played there in 15+ years)

Ohio 19 votes (decent G5 team, somewhat driveable for CNY fans, 1st game!)

NCSt 14 votes (a favorite of the Carolina/ATL crowd, late season hurt votes?)

FSU 12 votes (surprised at low total, hurricane season, 4 hours away from the major cities hurt?)

Hey Mark, we would be coming from Howard County, MD, so driving would be the only realistic option since there aren't direct flights from BWI to Roanoke. Will probably be a couple months before we finalize travel plans.
