Just did some quick research to try to get a large group of candidates in one place and see if anyone had some thoughts. I wanted to mostly focus on guys that haven't been discussed as much as the guys like Fleck, Campbell, Frost, Babers, etc.

Head Coaches:
Todd Monkin - Southern Miss

Skip Holtz - LA Tech

Bobby Wilder - ODU

Doc Holliday - Marshall

Brian Polian - Nevada

Troy Calhoun - Air Force

Bob Davie - New Mexico

Matt Wells - Utah State

Ken Niumatalolo - Navy

Bob Diaco - UConn

Matt Rhule - Temple

Jeff Brohm - WKU

Offensive Coordinators:
Frank Cignetti Jr. - OC for St. Louis Rams

Calvin Magee - OC for Arizona

Jeff Mullen - OC for Charlotte

Ed Warriner - OC for Ohio State

Danny Langsdorf - OC for Nebraska

Doug Nussmeier - OC for Florida

Bill Legg - OC for Marshall

Jake Spavital - OC for Texas A&M

Lincon Riley - OC for Oklahoma

Mike Sanford Jr. - OC for Notre Dame (Was OC at Boise State for Harsin, so Coyle knows of him)

Have at it.

You lost me with Skippy. But most of the list looks quite good. You left Frost off however. If I were a betting man I would say he will be our next coach if he wants to be. Then again when I do bet I usually lose

Terry Bowden , ACC royalty. Recruiting no problem.

This list just proves that there is HOPE. Some of the coaches listed above are definitely nots, but there are just as many that you could make a case for. All I want is some HOPE back. Is that too much to ask for? Just some HOPE, because right now there is none, and will be none as long as HCSS is here. I can't even imagine the off season if he is kept. Since I have absolutely zero faith in him I couldn't even imagine having to look forward to another season of what we are witnessing now. There will be no interest, no talk, and no HOPE. At least give me some HOPE Coyle. Please.

Oh, also if some of you are wondering why a lot of HC's and OC's arent on my list. I was specifically looking for candidates that had any ties to the east coast at any point in time. Like some of the Texas guys, I don't see coming to upstate NY after spending their entire lives in Texas.

Skip Holtz his dad told him not to last time

Doc Holliday if he wasn't going on 59

Matt Rhule would be my pick out of the group with HC experience. He had helped to build up Temple twice, HC experience, and has had experience coaching both sides of the ball.

Don't worry. He's gone. I am convinced he has been a dead man walking since Louisville

Give me Diaco... Maybe not a sexy offense, but guy will rebuild the program...

I was just going to post something similar. They just beat Houston. Bowl for them and that program was horrific when he took over. Good candidate in spite of the moronic trophy thing with UCF ;)

For what it's worth and obviously different parameters for this job, but two finalists for the Boise job before Coyle hired Harsin were Dirk Koetter, OC with Tampa Bay and Justin Wilcox, DC at USC.

Look back at the posts before we hired Shafer I was pushing the Diaco train hard back then. Now I think that time has passed. We need an Offensive first mind in here

Holtz isn't the best candidate, but he's certainly not the worst. It's always confused me why people dislike the guy so much. He has built winning programs at UConn, ECU and now LA Tech. His only questionable job was going 16-21 in 3 seasons at USF where he did get a bowl win.

Tried to avoid DC's in my list for obvious reasons. Hopefully Coyle will as well.

Here's my current list with Tom Herman and Justin Fuente eliminated due to their recent extensions.

1. Dino Babers
2. Lincoln Riley
3. Jeff Brohm
4. Bobby Wilder
5. Todd Monken

Honorable Mention: Matt Luke (Ole Miss AHC/OC/OL), Sonny Cumbie (TCU OC/QB), Phillip Montgomery, Matt Rhule, Doc Holliday

The most realistic should be Frost and Sanford Jr. due to their former relationships with Coyle. I would prefer a guy with head coaching experience, but either of those two could end up being great hires.

I like Rhule. He's been coaching for 15 years and has coached every position throughout his career. He's also won more games each year at Temple and is a hell of a recruiter. Most people don't like him because he's not associated with an explosive offense though.

Wonder if we'd have any shot if Georgia fires Richt or LSU fires Miles.

My preference is an offensive head coach and someone who can recruit the areas we already hit (new england, NJ, PA, Ohio and florida). I think for a school with a limited budget getting an offensive HC helps as he can call his own plays and save money by not needing an expensive OC. My thought was if Shafer gets next year, then Sanford might be the guy. We'll see if Shafer gets another year.

I would also like to add Bo Pelini, Bud foster and Al Golden to coaches I would consider.
