Possible Portal Point Guards

Kid can really shoot it. He looks like a three. He can put it on the floor a little. Strong body. They did use him going high low on the block. He’s good in transition too. He’s not a big or point guard.
Very efficient.

Averaged 17.8 ppl, 6.8 rpg and made 73 3 pointers last season. 39.9% from the 3 point circle.

53.9 FG percentage.

6’8

Voted 2nd team CAA this year.

Package deal with Jacques Carlos?

Hofstra seems to be a decent development program. Estrada at Bama came there from Hofstra. Wouldn't be the worse combo?

Would they come to be bench pieces? It is possible. I don't think Carlos is good enough to be starter at ACC level but as a backup he would be very solid.

He cannot cover any back to the basket 5…
He has a year to improve.

He clearly played to avoid foul trouble.

The good back to the basket 5s in the ACC are all moving on.

Don’t get the love for this kid. He’s done nothing of note. Is he interested?
He’s a freshman stuck behind several bigger and more experienced upperclassmen.

I'd be ok w Estrella but the portal is for production not for potential. He hasn't produced. Id rather take Awocka on Tenny, 6-8 250 avg 5 and 4 if available.

This other SF looks the part. The SF needs to be an all around player, dribble, shoot, rebound, defend. Bell is just a specialist.

Just remember with dollars that it’s the reported upper bound of what they can get.

Not what they cashed out with.

Im posting this in general terms.

He's the dude that refused to play in a game because Louisville forgot his compression shorts... lol
Yeah, I’d prefer a guy that wants to compete and win so bad, he’d go out in a freaking bikini. I don’t know this kid, but it sounds like a prima donna move.

Judah abused him. He is small, not very strong and I don't believe he enjoys playing hard nosed defense.

He is very quick and did some damage getting into the lane against Mintz, who has similar feelings about playing defense. If we want a PG who will play fast, he is a pretty good choice.

Provided we meet his legging concerns.

Would be really nice to have an idea what we might have health wise in Chance next year.. to me that factors huge in how some of this might shake out success wise..

Re Hofstra players, I watched a good amount of them this year because their games were on MSG down here.

Pass on Carlos. He’s not a particularly good shooter and is too small to get to the rim even against CAA players. He’s a pretty good passer, but he also had the benefit of one of the nation’s better shooters in Tyler Thomas and the aforementioned Dubar.

Dubar could be really good in an offensive system that likes to get up and down the court. He can put the ball on the floor a little bit, but isn’t necessarily a ball handler. Super athletic controls his body incredibly well. Defensively he can cover smaller guards as well as the four. I think he is a sixth player off the bench who could also put up 20 in a game.

SOS! Sending out a homing beacon to Erik Reynolds or Malik Mack to Syracuse pronto! We need reinforcements stat!

Who do people think are top targets are at PG? Do we go after Sean Pedulla, who grew up in Oklahoma but whose family is from New York? That Dakota Leffew kid is actually among the top 100 transfers here.

That small forward Mikeal Brown-Jones from UNC Greeensboro looks like a stud. I'd love to get him.
Reynolds, too. I first saw him as a potential target a couple months ago, just going through other teams' rosters looking for possibilities.

If anyone is interested in one of the Hofstra games, here they are against board favorite Rick Pitino and St. John's.

I don't know what level of interest we've actually shown in Carlos (the PG), what kind of role we might be interested in for him, etc., but he looks like exactly the type of PG that coaches love. I wouldn't at all be surprised if our staff views him as a winning player, tone setter, etc. Boxes out, helps and communicates on defense, pushes tempo when the numbers are there but comes to the ball and handles it like a floor general, instantly hounds the ball handler the second they pick their dribble up...I've only been watching for 10 minutes so far and he's done so many of the little things that coaches hound players about. Just going off his numbers and the scouting report of the poster above that actually watches Hofstra frequently, he's probably not what we have in mind as a starting PG because I think we probably need someone that can really create his own shot (and also create for others), but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all if coaches like the idea of bringing him in.

Dubar was pretty impressive too though some of the shots he was hitting against St. John's felt kinda flukey/inconsistent but if you squint really hard it feels a little like watching the good and the bad of RJ Barrett facing NBA players. If we can get guys like this to come off the bench here, that would be excellent. I can't really imagine a starting spot being available to Dubar and starting Carlos probably wouldn't be ideal (but the PG spot is obviously up for grabs).
