Post Clemson Injury Report

The refs did us no favors but let’s be honest, we shyt the bed in the second half. The two PF by the D and Dino burning 25 seconds for our last drive we’re the back breakers.
The offense played poorly the second half. The defense played well. Aside from the pass interference call, the two fouls that get me are the two late hit calls. If one was called, they both should have been called or neither should have been called. I believe the outcome of the game would have changed if those calls went any other way.

or if we actually did something with the 2 interceptions we got in the 3rd quarter

According to them the refs hosed them really badly. Our entire offensive line was holding on every play and the refs refused to call it until the second half, and then it was only a few times they called it. Our players were dirty and headhunting their quarterback just like we did to Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence, apparently someone stepped on DJ's hand and ripped away a huge patch of his skin with their cleats made from endangered Chinese black sharks and cursed in an ancient Voodoo that involved baby sacrifices and vials of stem cells made from aborted fetuses. All with the tacit approval of the referees that had been bought by our evil boosters who are flush with Yankee cash from price-gouging substandard goods and wares to honest, hard-working, God-fearing Southerners. Our shame knows no bounds. Even Sean McDonough and Dark Brandon himself were in on the plot to break the vaunted home game win streak and desecrate the rock.

Ok, I embellished a little, but you get the idea.

I don’t think you did.

No but ND is a good defensive team, hope we are healthy all around, especially Sean. It really is impressive watching all these defensive guys step up. Need a couple of WRs to do the same
We have guys open, Garrett just stares at og now all the time. His habits are getting worse every game. Now the other teams know it now too. Why he was quadruple covered on last play int.

I don't know but apparently they smashed us. Like, we didn't even deserve to be on the same field. And all our fans are salty, disrespectful, baby-eating savages.
I don't think you all are very salty.

;)

That is not on the QB. It is on the lack of other options. I'm not sure its a personnel issue or scheme issue but we have to face this and work on it in order to win our next game.

No updates from Dino today.

That's good to hear.

A key injury would have been insult on top of the loss. Glad we made it out of there relatively unscathed, against a bigger team of higher rated recruits.

Several guys on D got banged up during the game. All of them came back in and played their a$$e$ off. Tough kids.

think were ok, and id think garret williams should be back next week

We certainly are okay.

Actually, IMO, I feel were have fared quite well on the injury front, even though some here may suggest otherwise. We are now going into the 9 week of the season and eighth game. It's football and all teams are dealing with "bumps and bruises" and injuries.

We lost Elmore very early in our first game against Louisville. He, for the most part, hadn't played much for two years, so tangible loss of production is/was very difficult to measure anyway. Losing Thompson in our first game was more significant IMO, however, again, it was the 1st half of our 1st game. McDonald seemingly has been able to step in and perform admirably.

Lockett going down was significant, as he appeared to have stepped up from last year's production prior to injury and headed towards a very solid season. Darton, however, has seemingly filled in admirably as well.

Jones was dealing with the shoulder injury in camp, and apparently playing through it up until being out for good after the Purdue game. However, fact of the matter is, looking objectively at his numbers from last year, etc. and even prior to the Purdue game, his numbers should've been not too difficult to replace.

Williams appeared to almost be ready to go against Clemson, so no doubt he was missed, however, our defense didn't appear to skip much of a beat as the D was very solid, and coming up with 4 turnovers to boot. The problem was our anemic offense in the 2nd half and doing absolutely nothing with back to back turnovers in the 3rd. Williams, as you mentioned, undoubtedly will be back for the ND IMO.

All and all, IMO, we have been pretty fortunate so far this season...9 weeks in. And, the 7th season of Dino in having plenty of years/time to build a sufficient P5 roster and getting through the normal/foreseen ebbs and flow of a football season.

Umm I don't know about being fortunate. Just because we have better depth than past seasons and had pieces in place who were able to step up and fill in admiralty doesn't mean we haven't been hard hit by the injury bug. We've just been able to overcome. Seemingly this week with all of the bumps and bruises i'm optimistic that we haven't had any serious injuries for once this season, and against Clemson no less. Still concerned that we have so many games to go and with a fair amount of losses for the season, just makes us more and more thin as the season progresses.

And you don't think we could use a second receiver? Cause OG's stats from last year were replaceable as well. Players progress. I think his loss hurts quite a bit more than people realize.

Also you skipped over the injury to Jaquez. Seems though Jobity will step in his role nicely.

I think due to the annual/typical/likelihood ebbs and flows of a football season, etc., relative to our injuries this season to date, I do think we have been relatively fortunate as we head into week 9, it could be far worse. IMO, I don't think we have been hit hard at all. Losing Elmore and Jones, again, from a pure objective productivity standpoint based on the prior two seasons, etc. isn't much to talk about really.

The defensive losses are more significant IMO, however, their replacements have stepped up as I mentioned.

Yes, we absolutely could use a second receiver. My point on Jones was that based upon his actual numbers, etc., from a pure productivity standpoint, we shouldn't have that much difficulty in replacing that. He was not pigeon holed or firmly established as our #2 guy when he went down for good in the Purdue game. In year 7 of Dino, not having an solid number 2 guy at this stage rests 100% on his shoulders.

I forgot about Jaquez.

Somebody over there must have access to our payside to have that kind of intel.
