Kiyan starting at SG would be silly. He's a good player but he's streaky, if we wanna get to the tourney we need starting level players at all positions.
No, he shouldn't start. That's why JJ might be back, but he would have to accept being the 3rd or 4th option. We need a low post presence, we need a couple good 3 point shooters, dependable ones.
The PG has to be a stud, he has to be the alpha dog on the team, or maybe the Center. Both have to be very good.
The Forward we pick up has to be able to guard somebody else's 4 - weakness for Donnie last year, and you would expect the same from another frosh in Saddiq White. You need a better version of Jyare Davis - bigger, stronger, better from 3. Good enough to start, so that White can be the 3rd Forward.
We could keep JJ as a slasher, but not the primary ball handler, and not the guy to have the ball in his hands when you're running down the clock. He makes too many sub-optimal decisions, and doesn't really create for others, very rarely. He could be next year's energy guy for the offense.
That would make Anthony, White, Petar and Cuffe/Fennell as the rotation guys, along with the back-up center, for defense and maybe some offensive rebounds. We want guys who challenge people at the rim again.
That's a pretty decent group, if we can keep Freeman and shop at the top table again. We need 3 starters and a back-up center. That's a lot.
