Potential 2025-26 Roster

Only people I want back from this years roster are Freeman, Moore and Petar
JJ if he is willing to take lesser role. Third scoring option.

I wouldn’t mine a 3 guard line up next year tbh.
Give me a stud PG transfer, Starling and Moore as the starting guards
Bring Kiyan and Fennell off the bench

Start Freeman at PF if he comes back. Give me a legit defensive presence on defense at Center that can give you 5-7 ppg but 8 rpg and 2 bpg
Have Sadiq be the 6th man. Womack redshirts. Petar gets back up PF/C minutes.

Bring in another center in the portal that is okay being a backup. 10 minutes per game. And give me a freshman or Sophmore transfer at the small forward position that may not contribute right away but has high potential in a year or two
I like all of this, but JJ has to come back with left hand and better shooting form on both free throws and game shots. He is a great athlete. He should be able to fix his flaws, but he has to work his ass off.

I think Bell and Moore might try new surroundings
The only two returning players who can actually shoot. I’d like to see Moore back. We need to move on from Bell.

No insider info but just reading the tea leaves expecting Lampkin, Jyare, Carlos, Taylor, Naheem, Bell, Westry, and Donnie (Pro/portal) to be gone.

Cuffe (walking on sr night and recently signed w an NIL agent) and Choppa (apparently his camp isn’t pleased) could be 50/50 portal.
I need a camp

If we are starting Starling and Moore next season is already a loss imo.

Starling is the most inefficient player on the planet and Moore has shown absolutely nothing to warrant starting anywhere.

You could potentially hide one in a better lineup but not both.

The shooting he may (may) be able to fix. The fact that he hasn't developed a left hand in over 20 years of playing basketball leads me to think that ship has sailed. I think it is time for JJ's ship to sail as well.

I've not heard anyone say this ever. People are already angry enough. I swear people just come here to pour gasoline when the house is burning down.

Both are good enough to be in a rotation but it definitely would be horrible to have both starting. Either guy could start beside a strong point guard and a balanced bench to offset their weaknesses.

I’ve been a Red supporter and stated that he deserves at least 3 years, but I haven’t seen any growth in his coaching this season to feel like a turnaround could happen under his leadership next season. I’m more concerned about the coaching situation than which players stay or leave.

Same. I feel like the players are interchangeable if we have the right coach and the right system.
We don’t have a system at all. So how do we identify talent that will play well under Red. It’s a total crapshoot.

Eligibility Left: (7)

-Freeman: Pay whatever it costs. Only returning player worth outbidding another team for.
-JJ: When a bigger bag comes then portal. Not worth outbidding for.
-Bell: Expect he will test waters, force portal.
-Cuffe: Cuse minimum NIL.
-Moore: Cuse minimum NIL.
-Petar: Cuse minimum NIL.
-Chance: Force portal or scholarship #15.

Graduate: (5)

Incoming Freshman: (4)
-2 Guards
-2 Forwards

Portal Needs: (5)
-1X PG (1st priority): Identify our new captain at the 1. Best we can afford.
-2X Center (2nd priority). Build this position in the aggregate. We cannot afford a perfect center, we need 2 we can live with.
-1X Guard (3rd Priority). 3 point shooting
-1X Small Forward (4th Priority). Defense

Speed is Key. We need that PG on campus as early as possible with our young guys.

I'd be happy to see Freeman stay, but curious to see how he could coexist with Sadiq as two starting PFs. The two combined into one player seem like they'd be a lottery pick. Freeman needs to get better at defense (blocks and post presence). His rebounding is good enough though.

It's going to be a heckuva portal season though.

The starting pg should be able to run the team, make sound and good decisions and set up his teammates. He also must be a good defender. Scoring would be a plus but not a priority.

This has been asked a few times. Autry wants to play them both at the 3 and 4.

I don't doubt that. I'm trying to figure out how effective it would be in game play. Part of me thinks it wouldn't work well and part of me thinks that it would be OK. Sadiq is hyper athletic but he's still raw - kind of like a frosh Jerami Grant. I don't think they can rely on him to be a difference maker as a freshman. They would need to be surrounded by very good players at the 1,2 and 5.

See that’s why I think if we get a stud PG these guys can co-exist. If we had a player like Mintz this year, I truly think Choppa would have had a great season. We see how Mintz elevated Bells game last year.

You get a stud PG that can do a little bit of everything, you then have Starling who is a slasher and Choppa who can shoot the ball and drive. Obviously Starling and Moore both have to get better at defense. But tbh I think a really good PG changes how good both those players are. Starling and Moore will never be the lead guards but I think they can play well off a good PG.
Then you have Fennell and Kiyan off the bench.

Freeman if he comes back would be the starting PF. We obviously has shown flashes and tbh I think he would also take his game to the next level with a really good PG. I think if you surround Donnie with the right players next year he truly has lottery pick potential if he comes back. Have Sadiq come off the bench as the 6th man and Petar gets minutes as the back up PF and Center.

Bring in a defensive minded center that doesn’t need to light it uo offensively. Just protect the rim and be a menace on defense. I think if we get a stud PG as option 1, Donnie comes back as option 2 and then you can have Starling as option 3 I’m comfortable with that. Redshirt Womack. And then you have 3 highly rated freshman coming off the bench. Bring in a young SF/PF transfer and a young transfer center that has potential and then I think this team could make some noise. Pending Autry being a competent coach. Which is a BIG IF

I don't think that team's good enough.

We absolutely need to get whoever is on the team defending at a high level. We likely once again won't be a particularly great shooting team. You cannot be a good team if you can't shoot or defend.

Need a new commitment on that end from guys like JJ, Bell, Choppa, etc. if they're going to return and play significant roles.

That to me is the biggest challenge Red faces. Nearly zero of our players from this years team played the kind of defense that we need; replacing an entire roster, especially when you need to pay them, is not easy either. Likely going to have to find a way to break through to guys that simply haven't shown much interest in playing defense in the past.

Exactly.

This year's team was terrible. The backcourt being one of the main issues.

That team would not be close to good enough. Need a complete overhaul that offers five new starters, unless an engaged and fully healthy Freeman returns. Which I, for some reason, doubt.

Yea same. I don’t know. Maybe it’s me. I just don’t think these players even really like each other and they don’t play together. Just getting a leader on the team and players that click.

My guesses, based on nothing but gut feelings and random information mentioned.

Petar - 80%
JJ - 50%
Cuffe - 50%
Freeman - 40%
Moore - 30%
Chance - 15%
Bell - 15%
