This is the first time St. Johns has been ranked preseason since 1999-00, and their first Top 5 preseason ranking in program history.

And the 1984-85 St. John’s team could still come out of retirement and demolish this year’s team with ease.

How that team wasn’t ranked preseason top 5 is beyond me. The backcourt of Mullin and Jackson alone demanded it.

Finishing the previous year unranked with an 18-12 record after squeaking in to the tourney as a 9 seed and losing in the first round will do that. The question is, how did a team with Mullin, Wennington, and Jackson do so meh.
