Care to explain why? This is a discussion board, after all.The top 20 was better than 25. I think 25 is pretty good right now.

EEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh I don't know about "merit based."The CFP poll (what actually matters) is merit based and isn’t released until like November.
No need to worry, if - I mean WHEN - Syracuse wins, the Vols fans will burn down the town. All you have to do is grab a couple extra drinks, some popcorn and watch the showOMFG I will go full General Sherman on Atlanta if that happens.
And by that I mean, I will sit at a bar with a giant smile on my face watching the rest of the days games.
I read this post in the voice of Pat on SNL.EEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh I don't know about "merit based."
I was going more for Tom Green.I read this post in the voice of Pat on SNL.
Not to make perfect the enemy of the good here but it kind of sucks that an opening weekend #1 vs #2 is the same time as our game.
I grew up with a top 20. When they went 25, it just never felt the same. I do not think adding 30 teams from FCS really requires an enlargement of the 25. Plus, with others receiving votes and disclosure of those votes, everyone kind of knows where they stand. Let's not dilute it that much more.Care to explain why? This is a discussion board, after all.
Yes, I still have the scars from 2019...I hate preseason polls
it's all good, the huge national TV audience for OSU-Texas will see our "Upset Alert" score on the score scroll when we are leading Tennessee and then see when our win is final. Not to make perfect the enemy of the good here but it kind of sucks that an opening weekend #1 vs #2 is the same time as our game.

By merit he means conference affiliationEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh I don't know about "merit based."

We have to win Duke game to be bowl eligible. Also note that 16 votes puts us at #40. Adding GT and Duke below we get:
at #5 Notre Dame
at #6 Clemson
at #10 Miami
at #16 SMU
basically at #18 Tennessee
at #37 Georgia Tech
Home vs #44 Duke
I think we found JB’s burner account.Ohhh, I got a pre-season poll rant...
Ready for it?...
The writers and coaches polls are way too freakin' small!
Those polls expanded from 20 teams to 25 teams in 1989. There were 106 D1A schools in 1989, so 24% of all teams were ranked each week.
Fast forward to today and there's 136 FBS teams. Which means 18% of teams are ranked each week.
Personally, I think the polls should be expanded to a top 35. That'd be 26% of teams. And it'd help with TV interest as well. There's research that shows a team being ranked makes a statistically significant impact on TV ratings. A matchup featuring #33 vs. unranked, or #9 vs. #28 would generate more viewing.
Wrong sport, pal.I think we found JB’s burner account.

In a league that’s paying its teams with better ratings, this seems significant.Ohhh, I got a pre-season poll rant...
