Putting aside the joke of the competitiveness of the game, would the all-star game of another sport pass muster if players from the top 4 teams failed to participate?

It's interesting to watch an NFL game where the players for the most part are trying not to hurt each other.
How do they get these guys to play in this game? Is it part of the NFL/players union contract? Why would anyone making 20 gazillion dollars a year want to play in this game? I don't see any upside.
game has become a bad joke. it's my understanding that winners get 88k a piece and the losers 44k.
if you want to see some hustling and hitting split that money W 125k/ L 7k with a 25k bonus to the mvp. sadly pride is gone and money is the only real motivation any of these guys understand today.
although glad alabama won 3 bcs championships i agree bcs is a farce ..as for pro bowl sure to some it may be a farce but those who say it's a farce are still watching it.
Every all star game is a joke. I dont understand or comprehend why anyone would watch the Pro Bowl (and I live for the NFL), the NBA All-Star Game or the MLB All Star Game (and I love baseball). Id rather watch a documentary on the history of Uconn Basketball.
