Program tiers

At least UCLA had a fairly recent run of 3 straight Final Fours. Indiana has had three Sweet 16's since 2002.

Indiana, for it's three championships, has a shocking number of first round exits. Can't recall how many but looked it up once and was amazed at the frequency. That program is absolutely living on ancient history. Been mediocre for pretty much a quarter century now.

Cincy has two ‘ships and a .642 all time w/l

How is rutgirls not in the basement they are just as bad as Nebraska.

That's because of Oscar Robertson. 79-9 over 3 years. Take that out and over all record drops. Don't think there is any one SU player's W/L record would hurt the overall as much. Same for the rest of tier 1, 2 or even 3

Eh they’ve made the tournament 9 of the last 10 years. I think they should be knocked down a peg too but I’m not sure the program’s as mediocre as some may think. Unfortunately Cronin never had it in March.

If Indiana has moved to tier 2 then UCLA should as well.

UCLA is on a different tier than Indiana. UCLA had more built up historical cache than Indiana and has played at a pretty high level in the not too distant past. Indiana has been pretty mediocre for a pretty long time.

11 National Championships
1 as recent as 1995
Championship game appearance in 2006
Final Fours in 2006, 2007 and 2008

Indiana
5 National Championships
Most recent Championship game or Final Four was 2002.
Most Recent Final Four prior to '02 was 1992.

UConn has 4 NCs, Indiana has 5. Sorry, but Syracuse doesn’t belong in the same tier as those two.

Huskies & Hoosiers getting shafted by being in tier 2.

history matters, and not just recent history. that's why the list is largely correct.

syracuse's place on future lists depend on what happens after boeheim retires. the reputations of uconn and indiana, for example, are almost entirely the results of ~20 year runs by a single coach at each school. and those reputations have declined since the end of those runs.

Outside of 1990-2014 Uconn has been trash.
I hate defending them but in those 24 years they have four titles. It's the same thing for UCLA and Indiana have they done anything great lately no. But their history is so dominant.

UConn is >>> Cuse sorry we haven't capitalized on our good teams but facts are facts.
