Whatever Faison does at ND.He is still an elite level Lax player.
I presume there is a plan in place where he commits x amount of time to football and x amount of time to lax.
Winter / spring is football?
Late spring and summer is lax?
Maybe winter / summer football and spring is lax?
Redshirt his frosh year both sports?
Doesn't early enrollment give him a jump on lacrosse too? Even if he can't play this spring, outside of spring football he can be around the team and start acclimating.
Obviously he wants the opportunity to be a QB in football, if he succeeds we know with all the QB's we have we will be good for a number of years. Nixon has a number of Players who are dual threat which should really open up the playbook.By participating this winter and spring in football he is going to know where he stands. Does he actually have an opportunity to start in a year or so? He is giving himself the best chance to play football. If he does well I wonder if he sticks with football only?
Exactly! If he does S&C with the football guys, and doubles up on S&C with the LAX bros, he'll be properly dedicated. And he'll be a DL.
You're right, but every now and then there is a Stetson Bennett. It's fun to think about the possibilities. We have better QBs coming in, he can be a practice body that plays lax. I wouldn't expect anything more than that.
This kid is good, don't underestimate what he can do.We have better QBs coming in, he can be a practice body that plays lax. I wouldn't expect anything more than that.
Agreed. I mean he isn't winning a job this year as a 185 lb true freshman, but he can take the opportunity to check and see if he may have what it takes to get there and if this is something he should focus on more. Certainly would be more lucrative than lacrosse if he has the talent. Its probably not too likely he becomes a starter here but I don't think its out of the question. He's athletic and pretty talented and obviously has spent quite a bit of time focusing on lacrosse as well. Not counting on it but i wouldn't dismiss it completely. Almost positive Carney beats him out initially due to talent and size. But after that who knows, maybe Filardi redhsirts and maybe Carney is so good he plays some this year and moves on after 3 years. That would leave 2 years of starting opportunity for Filardi. You never know. This kid is good, don't underestimate what he can do.
Nixon , Fran, and Gait wouldn't let him do this
if they didn't believe he had the talent to compete. Remember Fran is always upfront with players and wouldn't waste the players time .
Let's call it what it is, if he was that good he'd be on scholarship for football and not playing lax. This kid is good, don't underestimate what he can do.

The other QB recruit Belin is never playing QB in college at 6 feet he is too small, he is an athlete, and they will find a spot for him.Let's call it what it is, if he was that good he'd be on scholarship for football and not playing lax.
I hate the new trend on the board of saying "the coaches wouldn't accept that mindset". No, they probably would encourage him, but they know that there are two scholarship kids in this class already.
Fran probably was upfront, and told him to play lacrosse and he could practice/travel with the football team.
Filardi is 6'1" 170 according to his 2 4 / 7 profile. The other QB recruit Belin is never playing QB in college at 6 feet he is too small, he is an athlete, and they will find a spot for him.
The transfer, Williams , and Carney plus Filardi are the ones in the QB room for now.
