Class of 2025 QB Quentin Murphy (AR) Verbal to Arkansas

These days recruiting high school is rarely dead in the water. These days it’s important to establish relationships in case the player decides to hit the portal at some point in the future.

Six of the top ten quarterbacks in the 2023 class hit the portal before the end of their freshman year.

When was the last time Syracuse recruited a QB out of high school and that a QB completed his college eligibility at Syracuse? Rex Culpepper, class of 2016?

The efforts put into recruiting high school players may not bear fruit immediately, but it’s the long game that Coach Fran plays.
How did you forget Dungey? But remember Rex?

Yeah with the portal you are not just building the relationship for first year of college. Good chance we see him again next year. Good luck to him, Syracuse seemingly made a positive impression, that could pay off down the road.

As far as a QBs, Quentin could not carry Carney's jockstrap but as for an athlete, that is a different story. I will take Luke Carney all day long. Now we can put the priority on Washington, not saying that we haven't, and if the analyst are right, he will know that Murphy has chose elsewhere. Can’t wait for his official visit. Go Fran

I didn’t forget Dungey.

Dungey was part of the 2015 recruiting class and Culpepper was part of the 2016 class, thus Culpepper was the last QB Syracuse recruited out of high school who completed his college eligibility at Syracuse.

2023 - Did not sign a HS QB.
2022 - Did not sign a HS QB.
2021 - Lamson, transferred to Stanford
2020 - Morgan, transferred to Jackson State
2020 - Markiewicz, transferred to Texas State
2019 - Summers - entered the portal in 2021
2018 - Chance Amie, finished at Grambling (?)
2017 - DeVito, transferred to Illinois.
2016 - Culpepper, finished his career at Syracuse.

I was wondering if Arky was involved. Stay on him, Pittman is fighting for his job security. Fran has a good season his recruiting might get even better.

This is why having the best recruiters in the country will pay off incredibly well for us. They now get two swings at the pinata instead of one.

How are things working out for that South Carolina kid who flipped late from SU to the Gamecocks?

Look, I don't blame him for not choosing 'Cuse.

But staying in Arkansas? Does he have a first cousin he's got his eye on?

Largely unknown fact: you can marry your first cousin in New York state. :p

In many states that is so. For those who are quick to laude NY social policies over those of the southern states, NY only recently got rid of the ability of children as young as 14 to get married, with judicial approval.

I agree with this 1000%.

Recruiting for high school now also recruits the portal in the future.

Yeah this one seems dead in the water

But we have Carney already committed and we have Washington visiting on the 7th

Sucks we missed out but sometimes it’s just impossible to overcome the home town team
We might be dealing with the same scenario with Washington in a few weeks. It's gonna be tough to get him away from UMD, imo.

Some of those laws were written when living to age 50 was rare.

I am sure if I kept reading someone else already answered, but he is pegged to be their starter as a Freshman next season
