Which is interesting, because he could have stayed at LSU and sat behind Nussmeier for a year. Maybe he feels the path of least resistance to be a starter after a year is here. Or maybe it dawned on him that Brian Kelly sucks balls.
why not both.gif

Yea, it's puzzling to me. Maybe he knew he wasn't in the cards long term there or he just likes our coaching staff better. as you said, Brian Kelly is the worst.

There's a world where he never plays at Syracuse either - nothing is guaranteed but he's happy to fight for it here. Then again, he could always do a semester at Syracuse and transfer if Kyle stays and thinks he doesnt have a shot to beat out Carney long term.

I have never heard anyone say anything nice about Brian Kelly. I have some annoying ND friends and they were rooting for the team to lose for them to get rid of him

It seems Mr. Kelly has replaced Dick Clark as the world’s oldest teenager.
With moves like Jagger, one wonders if Brian Kelly is related to Gene Kelly.

All true

Also, still a very real chance to start this year at SU or at minimum, win the backup job to potentially be next man up and even go into 2026 as the potential lead.

He may also feel LSU will recruit/portal right over him without getting a chance?

doubtful this has anything to do with it but brian kelly has done a poor job keeping in-state recruits home. he fired all the in-state recruiters when he took over and they've lost a lot of relationships in Louisiana per the big athletic article a few months ago. Rickie is obviously a local kid who stayed home but perhaps he wanted to get away and be somewhere different for a change. who knows. everyone is different.

Nabers, Chase, JJ, Brian Thomas Jr all Louisiana natives who went to LSU. Risky strategy.
