I doubt Fran goes in the portal looking for another qb. He will roll with what he has. I’m sure he’s hoping he get Kyle for another year.
Depends on who portals in the second window. If the perfect candidate were to hop in, I’m sure we’d pursue, but I doubt we go after a guy just to grab oneI interrupt this line of discussion for a semi-serious topic related to Collins…
If McCord’s appeal is denied, are we rolling with what we now have in the QB room? Or will we look for a semi-big fish in the portal for another year?
Pretty difficult to come in and start if you are not here in JanuaryDepends on who portals in the second window. If the perfect candidate were to hop in, I’m sure we’d pursue, but I doubt we go after a guy just to grab one

Warm bodies don’t count. Unless Fran feels really good about where Jakhari is and he’s comfortable in him and Collins battling it out that’s one thing. If he’s not very certain he will be looking for someone else. With next years schedule I don’t think he goes into the season with any question marks at QB. Stack up as many talented QB’s as you can and let the best man win.We roll with a QB competition. We have enough bodies, that's for sure:
Johnson Jr
R Collins
J Williams
L Carney
R Belin
It's probably an open competition, with Collins and Williams the leaders going into the competition, Carney a heralded dark horse, and Belin and Johnson getting a legit shot to prove us all wrong. The spring should be very fun.Warm bodies don’t count. Unless Fran feels really good about where Jakhari is and he’s comfortable in him and Collins battling it out that’s one thing. Spring portal guys are typically guys who don't have good news coming out Spring Practice, so the perfect candidate is not likely to appear in that window.Depends on who portals in the second window. Oh I agree. But in theory, if a starting QB for a playoff team is getting displaced but not going to the league and wants to come to Cuse, we would probably pick up the phone. Doesn’t mean it’s likely in the slightest, just that if that scenario occurred, I think we would be receptiveSpring portal guys are typically guys who don't have good news coming out Spring Practice, so the perfect candidate is not likely to appear in that window.
Carney is not a dark horse. He expects to redshirt next year. I genuinely think McCord to Johnson would be the biggest quarterback drop off from year to year in the country.Carney is not a dark horse. He expects to redshirt next year. Belin should be redshirting as well.
If Michael Johnson starts we have a serious problem.
McNabb to Nunes is the bar for our program. We went from Superman to the Great Gazoo. I remember thinking this can’t be real when he walked into the field against Toledo (?) in the season opener in 1999.I genuinely think McCord to Johnson would be the biggest quarterback drop off from year to year in the country.
Shrader to Braden Davis. Poor Braden.I genuinely think McCord to Johnson would be the biggest quarterback drop off from year to year in the country.
What’s crazy about that season is we were a few plays away, literally, from winning 10 games. With Troy Nunes & Madei Williams at the helm.McNabb to Nunes is the bar for our program. Good gawd I am old but talk about some cartoon nostalgia.McNabb to Nunes is the bar for our program. We went from Superman to the Great Gazoo. I remember thinking this can’t be real when he walked into the field against Toledo (?) in the season opener in 1999.
I remember calling that Nunes would start during spring practice, way back on the newspaper message board. Nobody believed it because it seemed so crazy. Just had a feeling. Didn't want to be right.McNabb to Nunes is the bar for our program. We went from Superman to the Great Gazoo. I didn’t mean to disrespect Nunes, but that was the first physical comparison that popped into my head back then. It was sooo jarring….after 15 years of elite athletes under center.Good gawd I am old but talk about some cartoon nostalgia.
So we got spoiled with McCord this year but the Football Gods owed us one. If the QB room stays as is with McCord officially out, lets hope we find a diamond in the rough out of the candidates we have. Our receivers can ease transition.
I'm confident that Jakhari or Rickie can be the guy next year. And I will still set the bar at 7 wins next season.Good gawd I am old but talk about some cartoon nostalgia.

Def something to consider but so much of the coach and player talk was about the bonding time the players got with McCord over spring and summer.Oh I agree.
