Can anyone imagine the money that Kyle would be offered if he had been a sophomore last year and needed to come back? Would he have stayed? If Pena is getting 2, Kyle would have gotten 4 mil. I say that, because I think QBs are now a one year thing, (if they played.) Nothing is guaranteed after that, at least with this current setup of NIL. I think you have to take whoever will help you right now that is available, and try to develop the kids that don't play underneath.

McCord was a unique case. His future was at risk because if he is benched that crushes his future. His first priority was finding a situation where there was little to no risk of losing his job and had some pieces to work with.

Money wasn’t priority one, having an uncontested opportunity to change the narrative about him was.

So, Fran should have checked his Crystal Ball and seen that Angeli would be available weeks after he named Rickie the starting QB? Fran was prepared to run with Rickie and then two big names transferred and some NIL opened up while Angeli entered the portal. Circumstances changed unexpectedly

My point is not and never has been that I’m such a big Collins guy I need him to be the starter, my point is naming him QB1 was just a misstep in my opinion. If he didn’t do that I wouldn’t have said a word about adding Angeli, it’s just to me Fran Brown has now put himself in a position where he has to walk back everything he said, which again, to me is bad optics. If he wanted to keep his options open why not wait until after the spring portal to publicly name a QB1?

The way I look at it the players can't have it both ways. If players are gonna portal left and right to chase coin without a shred of loyalty then coaches absolutely have free reign to continuously upgrade the roster. Competition is a good thing. If you can't handle it then you don't have the right inner fortitude in the first place to be QB1.

Collins was buried on the lsu roster. If Nixon and Fran think he’s the guy over Collins then let him go. I’m guessing the guys that see Collins throw everyday has more knowledge of the situation then we do. Plus add in pena basically thinks we can’t win with Collins.
