Angeli hitting the portal surprised absolutely no one on our staff. He wouldn’t have needed a crystal ball, just wait a couple weeks lol.
What’s the evidence for that? We know he had a conversation with the HC. That’s it.Collins has only been in Cuse for five months. I doubt he has developed a contingent of loyal followers who will rebel upon learning this news, especially when it seems Pena was openly questioning his abilities.
I am dropping Jon Jones 12-6 elbows on this horse and I’ll continue to do so as long as this conversation requires.
I'm still struggling to understand why people think Angeli is a sure thing 2-3 game improvement on Collins.Idle, but fun speculation on my part:
Stevie Angel matriculates to SU. He ends up starting and we have a 7-6 (maybe 8-5) season with him as QB1 whereas we would've had a 5-7 season w/o him. No feathers are ruffled, no locker rooms are lost in the process, although there are some transfers of QBs looking for optimi$ation.
I think we believe Nunzio has good insight in to Angeli and has now worked with Collins for the last 5 months so he knows better than we do.I'm still struggling to understand why people think Angeli is a sure thing 2-3 game improvement on Collins.
I'm also hoping we're not bringing him in strictly because Nunz thinks he'll be the better QB because his brother coached him at Bergen Catholic.
As long as all the QBs understand this is an open competition and the best man for the job wins, then so be it.
NO HE DID NOTDid he actually say this is our guy? Or was it more like Collins won the spring battle and right now he's number 1? And to be honest if he did say he's our guy, I'd love to add Angeli.
Fran has already said they wanted to bring in another QB, and already had the other player in.I'm still struggling to understand why people think Angeli is a sure thing 2-3 game improvement on Collins.

He's not. It's just likely he's better than Collins right now.I'm still struggling to understand why people think Angeli is a sure thing 2-3 game improvement on Collins.
Reading the whole thread is also your friend. I posted this numerous times already,People please. There’s this thing called Google and it actually keeps track of things that get reported and what people say. Even better this AI stuff finds you quick answers.
This is less that 2 weeks ago. The head coach telling everyone he is still bringing in another transfer quarterback. He has made it as clear as it can be yet people still can’t comprehend.
“Syracuse head coach Fran Brown has named LSU transfer Rickie Collins the starting quarterback for the 2025 season. Despite this decision, Brown also stated that the team will still seek to add another quarterback via transfer. This is likely due to Michael Johnson Jr. entering the transfer portal after losing the quarterback competition to Collins
Sorry. I started in the low teens reading hah.Reading the whole thread is also your friend. I posted this numerous times already,
Just kidding with you Red (sort of)
OK but how do Angeli’s plays stack up against the Ricky Collins film we’ve seen ?I did not see any semblence of McCord magic. I did not see escapability. I did not see any special awareness of the rush. I did not see any great downfield passes. I did not see any ability to hit a receiver in a tight window. I did not see any running ability.
All or most of the above may be there, I am just saying I did not see it in that video.
If these six or seven plays are what people hear are so amped up about...I think I am missing something.
Dont get me wrong, I am glad he is visiting. I hope we get him, but I saw nothing compelling to make Fran go back on his word to Rickie. Again, if Rickie falters, everything becomes up in the air.
As I have said all along - I hope he comes - I do believe that if he comes that sooner or later he will get an opportunity for one reason or another. Leave it at that.
As I said, it's just fun CFB speculation, but I base Angeli as becoming our QB1 on the thinnest of observations and greatest of hopes:I'm still struggling to understand why people think Angeli is a sure thing 2-3 game improvement on Collins.

You can watch for yourself here. I wouldn't call it "as good as it gets" but he was solid.
All his passes are to first-reads and one was a check down.
Maybe they’re looking at Angeli to play linebacker or corner or both? Some of you should save your energy in here. We’re gonna need some of you to play linebacker or corner, if we don’t get some transfers soon.
Now why do you think that? I'd expect the offense will be almost exactly the same regardless of which QB wins the job.As I said, it's just fun CFB speculation, but I base Angeli as becoming our QB1 on the thinnest of observations and greatest of hopes:
1. His Bergen Catholic/ND pedigree. He's been working w/good teams at a high level of coaching for a long time (I know. He hasn't broken thru as a starter.)
2. My confidence on how OC Nixon and Nunzio Campanile (NJ familiarity connection) can work him into an effective offensive scheme more so than Collins. He's more of a pocket passer a la McCord (I know, McCord was a superlative unicorn)
3. His highlight film (I get it...it's a highlight compilation) demonstrated some canny throws and good field vision
4. I just think the NJ connection helps in the same way it did w/McCord. Not in terms of performance necessarily, but in terms of relationships, shared experiences and communication.
5. If however, Collins turns out to be the man I'm behind him 144%
