I love how you guys assume the next guy is always the guy! All things being equal Collins was the better QB. Should be a good competition.
I don’t think it’s going to be close. Clearly something was a miss with him.

I don't think that was clear at all. People are just extrapolating what Fran said Trebor said as a fact, and penalizing him because he missed the spring game.

If Collins was healthy and threw for 200 in the spring game you might be thinking differently

Remember getting Funderburke from Arkansas years ago and everyone kept saying to put him in and questioning why he wasn’t playing. Usually when your transferring down its not because you’re excelling at the school you’re at. I know QB is a bit different because only 1can play. Kyle was different last year because he was highly successful at Ohio St. But the previous transfers from Florida and S Carolina had flip written all over them. I have my questions about Collins. I guess we won’t know unless we see him play. I feel a little better about Angeli but really it could go either way here. FWIW i do rate Angeli much much higher than i ever thought of CDRW and Davis.
This kid is a stud. He has already performed on the biggest stage. Came in cold and crushed it against a great D. Amazing get by Fran and the staff.

Watching some highlights, Angeli had some Dungey like runs where he looked to punish the defender. That scares me a bit. I hope he is more careful when he does run from some of what I saw or we may need Collins sooner than expected (and that's assuming Angeli wins the spot of course).

More shocking was HOW we lost that game. There was a lot of optimism to start the season, but getting obliterated by a middling program like MD was unsettling to say the least.
Devito's lack of pocket presence and situational awareness was... mind boggling. -shudder-
That was the game I lost faith in Dino Babers. We were so poorly prepared and overmatched.

Our defense acted like the RPO offense Locksley has been running since he was in pee wee football in 1983 was some new exotic thing never seen before.

Without Dungey running his own offense, we were a bunch of clueless buffoons out there running around on offense.

Thank god those days are gone.

And that Maryland team was trash, they ended up at 3-9, their only other wins were Howard and Rutgers at their Ash worst.

I felt incredibly foolish, woke up in the morning feeling like a boss as a fan of a top 25 team coming off of a 10 win season, just needed to get through mediocre Maryland to host College Gameday to ending the day just feeling downright stunned on what happened. People left the game thinking Maryland was going to a NY 6 bowl atleast. We were just that unprepared. I hope they show that 2019 game as an example of what can’t happen against Tennessee in September. Similar to how we played with a chip in November given the trend of how that month goes for Syracuse football in recent memory.

If I remember right, the defense was atrocious too…? I feel like they ran it right down our throats over and over. Was that the same year ND basically walked it up and down the field on us every single possession?
MD kept completing short passes over the middle and Babers and crew (do not recall who was the D coord.) never made any adjustments.

That game, in which a bunch of us were in attendance (not so much in attendance as “in disbelief”)was such total disaster and brought the previously high flying program right back down to earth. We haven’t recovered from ituntil Fran arrived.

Not being argumentative but had to look it up because I felt like they just ran it down our throats. MD had 354 yards rushing in that game and avg 7.9 yards a carry.
Maryland did anything they wanted that day. Also had 296 yards passing. Averaged 7.9 yards per rush and 7.8 per pass.

650 yards of total offense.

It was awful to witness the carnage in person.

At least the tailgate was solid.
We had developed a small group of friends that where in love with Syracuse because of Dungey's magic. They all game to that trainwreck of a game and mostly stopped watching Syracuse football.

I do as well, because Angeli has actually played and played well although in limited action. CDRW and Davis could never move up the depth chart at their respective schools and for good reason. Neither was a #2. Collins is in the CDRW/Davis camp until he proves otherwise.

Did you ever think you’d hear a HS coach talk about Syracuse Football again the way Coach Campanile just did? SU as a destination to reinvigorate your career and shoot for the next level?! Kyle’s amazing season will echo around the program for a long time, and if Angeli or Collins go off next season, oh my will things be different. We’ll be a serious program again.
