Great...SU is starting out the Tennessee game with a flag because of our QB's knee pads

You don’t get that flag when you play for Notre Dame. He’s gotta learn quickly that he won’t get breaks and free bees from the referees like he did at Notre Dame.

If there’s one thing that I like about this staff, is that they don’t seem like they want to go with a guy they’re not sure can get the job done.

Their standards are higher than our recent past.

In my entire 45 years of fandom, I’ve never felt worse than Troy Nunes first game. The drop off from McNabb to Nunes was shocking.

I was concerned we were going to have that same feeling in Atlanta. Not sure I’m as worried now. Whoever wins will be at least as good as Angeli last year, and that seems acceptable.

...if Collins or Williams don't portal now...
If they bail because of this, not very competitive.

They all have multiple years to develop and win the job.

This isn’t like McCord where his last shot was at risk and it was clear the coach already made a decision.

Both these guys know the score and they each have a better path to winning the job then they

Report: Steve Angeli will visit one of Notre Dame football’s 2025 opponents today

Steve Angeli, who has decided to transfer from Notre Dame, will visit Syracuse today. The Orange are one of Notre Dame’s 2025 opponents.

When Steve Angeli decided to leave Notre Dame football and enter the transfer portal, you had to know that he would end up somewhere he could start immediately.

As one of the top transfers at his position during the spring cycle, interest is going to be there and on Monday it was reported by On3’s Steve Wiltfong that Angeli will take a visit to Syracuse today. The Orange saw another transfer, Kyle McCord, take over the starting position and throw for 4,779 yards, which led all of the NCAA this past year. He will now move on to the NFL.

There is no doubt that Syracuse can sell the position to Angeli, showing him everything that McCord did in his lone season, as he finished No. 10 in the Heisman Trophy voting. As a New Jersey native, the former Irish quarterback would be able to play much closer to his home, and for a program that isn’t afraid to throw the ball.

Another interesting tidbit about this visit is that Notre Dame will take on Syracuse in South Bend on Nov. 22nd. It would be quite the return for Angeli.

This is the first visit that Angeli will take since entering the portal this past week, and it could be a short re-recruitment for him.

College career

Notre Dame

2022 season

On October 22, 2022, Angeli made his collegiate debut against UNLV. Overall, Angeli appeared in two games in the 2022 season.

2023 season

In 2023, Angeli was named the backup quarterback, behind Sam Hartman. He appeared in nine games and recorded 4 touchdowns and 1 interception for 272 passing yards.
On December 29, 2023, Angeli made his first collegiate start in the Sun Bowl.[6] He threw for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 40-8 win over Oregon State.
2024 Season
In the 2025 Orange Bowl against Penn State, Angeli replaced an injured Riley Leonard late in the second quarter and completed 6/7 passes for 44 yards, securing a field goal as the first half expired. Leonard would return in the second half and lead Notre Dame to a 27–24 victory.

Is there any reason to be concerned that Angeli couldn’t win the ND starting job this spring? I don’t know anything about who he was competing with, so I ask sincerely.
