We need one to gain significant separation soon.
Why?
I hope they both play so great the coaches feel like they have nothing to lose with the choice.

"If you have two quarterbacks you actually have none" - John Madden
Because it can become a distraction in the locker room. The "other" qb should be playing more, etc. Why?

It's also how you prioritize keeping the ball and not turning it over. This^^^
Brady and Joe Montana were the best I've ever seen w/ this. Patience and not always swinging for the fences is a great QB trait. And frustrating for defenses as well. It starts off as dink-n-dunk, but suddenly you look up and it's 1st down from the 17 yard line.
The level of competition kind of belies your point. That was a 2-9 UNC. Should never have been in such a precarious position, and not to take away from Tommy because he made some great throws there and I was so confused at Great Adventure when the final score showed we won, but comparing that UNC to last year's Penn State and being in the playoffs - Angeli really stepped up.Not a shot at him at all. In the moment it's everything you'd want from a backup.
It was a solid drive. But the revisionist history that it was this incredible moment is so over the top. Most of the throws were check downs. It wasn't "Tommy Devito winning the game against UNC" impressive.

I guess we're screwed if they're both good.
I can honestly say the only successful team ive seen in my time that went with 2 QBs was 2012 northwestern. You could argue the hurts - tua Alabama teams falls into that category but he was largely always viewed as the QB in waiting.Or you have two.
Someone needs to start against Tennessee. But I could see a scenario where Fran plays them both since it seems so tight. I’m not thinking alternating possessions but playing match ups.

Yes but if Collins isn’t grasping the playbook it limits what you can dial up.I’m not saying we wouldn’t pick a starter and run with him. I’m saying maybe we have 2 really good QBs, either of whom could start and succeed.
Where have you heard from a reliable source that he is not "grasping the playbook"?Yes but if Collins isn’t grasping the playbook it limits what you can dial up.
People on here said that about his body of work in the spring. And then a few weeks ago bnoro felt he had to defend Rickie because of "perceptions" that had racial undertones.Where have you heard from a reliable source that he is not "grasping the playbook"?
Yea that’s not true at all. Zero issues there.Where have you heard from a reliable source that he is not "grasping the playbook"?
That false perception continues to permeate the narrative within this QB competition, where it is now a fact within your mind.People on here said that about his body of work in the spring. My humble qb prediction is that Ricky Collins will start and will be known to us as the run option qb whether in disguise or actuality. Then, Steve Angeli will be the regular qb for most of of the time. He will be known as our new Kyle McCord.
Of course this is all based on someone that doesn't know what hell he’s talking about.
I think they both play the first 3 weeks and whoever looks best after that will be the starter. Then the offense should be tailored to their skill set.My humble qb prediction is that Ricky Collins will start and will be known to us as the run option qb whether in disguise or actuality. That would awesome too! Some where I heard, maybe it was the ACC road trip, that Ricky was the better passer.
