not saying these guys are the same, just looking at rushing ypg and passer rating

taysom hill 118 rating, 103 RYpg 8-5 record
dak prescott 127 rating, 75 Rypg 7-6
BJ Denker 127 rating, 73 RYpg 8-5

hunt this year, 115 rating, 91 RYpg. Missed the second half of the nova game.

You're only going to go so far with a passer rating in the 110s or 120s, no matter how good you are on the ground. But we also shouldn't pretend like Hunt is some uniquely awful college qb

He's not. not at all. After a frustrating game like MD, Hunt, along with HCSS and GM are the punching bags for frustrated fans.

i was wrong on hunt.

had him pegged as a Strong Safety, bad call. that would be a waste of his biggest skill...running with the ball.

i think hed make an awesome TE. hes big, clearly an athlete and his YAC could be off the charts silly good.

if wilson could hit him regularly on a 5yd slant or out...its 1st down city and a goal line weapon.

Good stuff. A lot of coaches will pick the athlete/runner if they don't have a polished QB ready. Nothing wrong with doing that as long as you tailor offense to that guy's strengths.

Did you see what Miss St ran on a big 3rd down just inside LSU territory in the 2nd half on Sat? Spread out 4-5 wide and ran a designed run that Prescott took to the house.

Agreed. Frankly, I expected him to show more improvement as a passer this season. But he wasn't that bad against Maryland, and we need to take into account that our best WR--Broyld, who isn't even really that great of a WR--missed the majority of Saturday's game. That had some impact. Hunt missed some throws. There were also some drops. But some of the criticism being directed his way is over the top. He is a solid QB, with the potential to be something better than that if he demonstrates more efficiency with his throws.

His passer rating is hampered by the bubble screens. I will take an egg beater to my beanbag before watching that again but I'd bet it was a net negative again - not as bad as last week but still pulls it down.

When McDonald mercifully goes away, I'll reevaluate what I expect from a QB here but until then, Tebow would struggle to get above 150 throwing screens to waiting defenses

I thought Hunt was just fine on Saturday, what killed us was obviously the blocked Punt and the pic 6. This game felt eerily like the Rutgers game in piscataway a few years ago.

Just when I think you're going to say something hypercritical and thoughtless , you go and say something sweet like that.

we need a true #1 wr. we have a bunch of #3 types and we have backup slot guys playing our main WR roles. Lewis is the only one that really makes plays and it would be fine if he wasnt really the only one making plays but he seldom on the field. West/flemming need to be your glue guys not your go to guys. i still want to know why we dont have a go to pass play down in the red zone when we have multiple 6-3 type WRs

Agree 100%. And hopefully, the coaching staff took a step in that direction by bringing in Ishmael, Custis, Enoicy. It would be nice if we can re-land KJ Williams this year, too. Because right now, we just have a bunch of guys.

And don't get me wrong--you need role player / possesion WRs too. A guy like Lewis was an afterthought coming into the season, but is now starting to make big catches. Very nice complimtentary weapon. But it would be great to have a clear #1 caliber receiver. Franklly, the difference between Maryland's top group of WRs speed and ours was glaring.

the last thing we need is hunt trying to throw fades to tall WR

you dont need fades to throw to big WR, crosses, shallow slants, skiny post, quick curls. the play against CMU were Estime scored will be open almost every time Hunt roles out. Anything but the play that throws to the DB in the flats..

Taysom Hill is what I think we want Hunt to be. He's run for 7 TDs, thrown for 6, completing 66% of his passes (was at 54% last season), QB rating is now 138 with an avg. of 107 yards rushing per game.

To me that sounds like the Heisman candidate that one fan this summer was saying Hunt would be.
