Quadir Copeland & Kadary Richmond…

This team wasn’t a Copeland away from being mediocre. This team was terrible, practically top to bottom. If Copeland was here, we still suck, we still miss the tournament, we still lament the state of Syracuse basketball.
The point is, losing your best players and those who impact winning is not a good look.

Copeland/Brown/Mintz all could have stayed. None did. They were three of our most impactful players last year.

If we had Q and KR playing guard for us this season, our perimeter defense would have been worlds better.

If his academic situation was really as bad as people are making it out to be, don’t you think there would have been some eligibility issues at McNeese State?
No.

The McNeese State's of the college sports universe have very low or no minimum requirements to get a player they want into their school and eligible.

dunno . i look back at this season's roster and i see some talent . most have some pretty polished skills. ( the maestro he needs some work and he'll be fine). what this team lacked was SMARTS. gotta be the lowest combined basketball IQ ever assembled under the dome roof. so frustrating to watch that most nights i didn't even bother. we got bigger issues than talent. Q wouldn't have helped the IQ . TBH i haven't watched Kadary play since he left so maybe he mightta helped. but this team just didn't get IT. individual talent only takes you so far. you gotta understand what it takes to win as a team.

There is virtually no way, with the way transfer credits work, that a player projected to be ineligible at one institution would magically be eligible at the next institution.

It's almost silly to call these guys students nowadays. this is very little about students.

I watched him yesterday... made bonehead passes and missed free throws. I don't miss him a bit.
We had exactly one player that could create his own shot. The team missed him very much.

I liked Copeland as a forward. He was good under the basket and was willing to mix it up.

His play at guard on the other hand was weak. Poor shooter, flashy high turnover passer incredibly

indifferent defender.

I can see all your points except defender. He is clearly better defender tamhan anyone on the SU roster. Watching him Thursday clearly showed that

I haven't seen him play for Mcneese St , just when we played him at guard at the end of last year

Everyone keeps talking about his "sloppy" play. 4.5 assists and 2.8 turnovers. Great? No. But over the top bad? Not even close. JJ this year averaged 2.8 assists and 2.3 turnovers per game. Q would have made our team much better. We still would have sucked, but we would have sucked less.

Which should have been enough. But yeah he was better at D here and at McN

We should’ve never let Kadary leave but I have to say it brings me joy knowing his best NCAA tourney run came in his lone year in Orange.

I was talking to a couple of McNeese state fans in Providence yesterday at the game and they were saying that Quadir can be fun, but he also can be out of control, make wild passes, take outside shots that he can’t make. I am now comfortably recovering from a strained neck from nodding.

similarly, I know it was a tough day for him, but the same warts we saw from Kadary are still apparent, including bad body language when things go the wrong way and inability to shoot.

Long story short, both guys were considerably better than we had this season, but neither would have dramatically changed this program by themselves.
