Quadir Copeland transferring to NC State

Heard a few weeks back this was a done deal once Wade took the job. Hope Cuse crushes Quadir next season.
Anyone want to contribute to a bounty fund NO Saints style?

The front page of the Asheville Citizen Times had a familiar face -- a 8" x 8" photo of Quadir Copeland, who is apparently transferring from McNeese to NC State.

I understand the true nature of CBB, but how do you not even attend class but be only in danger of flunking?

They do a lot of stuff online these days.

talented kid. brought a lot of energy. never ever learned to harness his emotions on the court.
but that's something he can learn and master if he puts his mind to it. he'd be a valuable addition then.
and only then .

Yeah, I thought he was a talented player, but just too emotional. Not as bad as Bell or Benny, but pretty much next.

He also never learned that no matter how much he hated it or didn't think it was important, that he had to go to class, do homework and ya know...study. If he has since then matured some off the court, that will help State. If he hasn't then he will be at another school in a year.

Lucky for him his post Syracuse stops include a lot of fans who can’t even spell class….

Man one of his best games was against NC State. He so got in their heads

Copeland was easy to root for.

And he had WAY more talent than his three-star rating.

But he never learned to stop playing out of control. He makes as many bad plays [and did so at McNeese State, as well] as positive plays. That's what really holds him back.

He was a fan favorite, largely because he was flashy. But "flashy" doesn't always equal "good". Sometimes it was successful, sometimes it was a face plant. His assist to turnover ratio at SU was not good, although it got better at McNeese. By his own admission, he liked making flashy plays for the crowd. The problem is, then it becomes all about you. The lack of discipline then becomes obvious.

Although he was generally a decent defender, my lasting memory of him is yapping at the officials while the ball went the other way. It happened with great regularity over the last half of his final SU season.

Yeah, I always felt that his over reliance on the flashy plays was more about compensating for a lack of basic fundamentals - I'm sure I will be in the minority with that take. And, as you mentioned, a lack of discipline on and off the court. High energy, disruptive-type of player who could definitely make things happen at both ends, both good and not so good. Nevertheless, we were a better team with him on floor his last season here.

He was a DIG on defense.

I live 2 miles from NC State campus. Will be interesting to see what fans think of him February…

I loved Q when he was here. He was like a completely insane version of Josh Pace. Not saying their games were the same, but they were both that glue guy swiss army knife player that you need to win.

I like Q also not as a starter but a bench piece to add a few minutes and energy and exploit a mis-match. Biggest issue was turnovers and not being able to shoot the ball.
