When I was on campus a few weeks ago I saw the bookstore was selling jerseys/t-shirts with the name and number of former players. In particular, I saw jerseys for 44-Wallace, 31- Washington and 3-McNamara. Do former players get a percentage of those sales? In Pearl’s case does the money go to his family?
What if a vendor not a part of the university, like Manny’s, sells a jersey? I’m not even going to ask about Shirt World because I just assume they will scam people.
I also wondered who determines what ex-players get a jersey for sale? In the case of an employee of SU such as Gerry, is this a separate contact or part of his employment contract? And if Gerry gets a jersey, why not Autry or Griffin?
With the way the Syracuse community embraces former players, I would think there are dozens of former players whose jerseys would sell and could get some extra funds, Devendorf certainly comes to mind as he is heavily involved in the community.
Thanks,
VS
