With WVU making their deal to pay $20M to get out of the Big East, what happens to that money? Do the teams in the conference all get a cut? Does it go into the Big East's "petty cash" fund? And most importantly - if it is divided out amongst the schools - do SU and Pitt get a cut? They certainly should as they are still members and are affected by WVU leaving just like the rest are (at least for 1-2 years).

Money is going to be used to pay MAC schools guarantees to allow Big East football teams to go play the MAC schools in their stadiums.

SU and Pitt should definitely be cut in on the WVU $. If they make us stay, we should receive all member benefits until the time we leave.

I believe, 'Cuse and Pitt do not receive any $$$$ for teams coming and going...just as 'Cuse and Pitt have NO SAY at the table of what the BE conference will do...'Cuse and Pitt are no longer considered voting and $$$ share members except for media $$$$

This is what I have seen as well.

But for the OP, does it really matter that we won't be getting a cut of it anyway?

Also, it is my understanding that when Pitt and SU do enter the ACC, they will go three years at a reduced payout (this is usually between 70-75% of a full share), which will make the current ACC members' take slightly larger over 2013-14, 2014-2015, and 2015-2016 than it will be when the Orange and the Panthers begin getting a full share in 2016-2017.

Cheers,
Neil

I'm not sure if it matters or not. It occurs to me that these institutions would generally run over their grandmothers to pick up a nickel laying on the sidewalk so I suspect it matters to them... My feeling is that NO SU will not get a cut, because it probably is unseemly that the BE pays us 20% of our exit fee the year before we leave, but given that status - we should be in no generous mood about staying the full 27 months.

This is exactly what the contract said.
