I think if Red or GMAC are the coach, most of the players will return. Anyone else, including JB it’s a crapshoot.

I've always loved baseball's (wins above replacement player) WARP stat. How many players on our roster do we think will have a WARP >= 1 next season?

Mintz, JG3, Jessie... anyone else? Maybe Brown, although his offense is pretty poor. That's about it as far as I can tell.

Other than Mintz, there’s no one guy that’s making or breaking anything. But we need the majority to return and get better. Bringing in a couple good players from the portal to replace Girard and Edwards and keeping most of the potential returners is a must to have a good team next year, in my opinion.

Even if they all return there is so little upside because all of these dudes do somethings very very well but need major work in SO many areas.

I think Taylor and Brown project as solid all around players down the road.

Certainly not ready to be the main guys on the team as sophs. A couple “Andrew White, John Gillon” level players(not necessarily same positions - one needs to be a center) along with Mintz would have to be the main guys, and Brown and Taylor the 4th and 5th starters at most, IMO.

I’m not counting on guys who have already played 4 full years(more or less - I know Jesse got hurt late last year), so that I can consider it a huge bonus if those guys actually return.

I mostly agree. On a related note, I feel like Quadir is underappreciated. I think he'll be really good if he sticks it out. Passing, length, energy, potential to get to the rim. I can't wait to see him a bit polished up next year. Really hope he stays.

There is a stat on Basketball Ref called Win Shares which is similar.

High End players are usually around 5, decent 3, then down from there.

Currently Jesse is 4.4, Mintz 2.9, Joe 2.4, Maliq 2

For some equivalence, former Colgate star Nellie Cummings is currently at 2.7 for Pitt. Better than Joe.

Another Question for the Insiders: If it is a slam dunk that the next coach is Gmac or Autry, why hasn't one of them been tabbed as the Head Coach in Waiting? Regardless of JBs end date which could be left as to be determined, wouldn't that help to have a successor announced?

The fact they haven't indicates this is all to be determined and it is no guarantee it will be either of them.

I suspect this post may take some incoming rounds but I do agree this has been a more fun team than the recent past. Still hard to get over the near total fiasco last year with brother ball and now we follow it up with 7 new players due to last year's team. My concern is that over the past two games, it seems that the team has quit or at least is playing to get the season over with. Judah has loftier goals and is playing to make the first round this year. I go back to watching JB play in high school, love him as a coach but a change has to happen. We can not expect to dig our way out of this hole and changing the players will not be the solution.

Tend to agree with your comments except I believe Copeland can become a valued player for us

Yep, they dont have much to play for until ACCT. Judah is playing for the Draft. The rest are hitting a wall.

I think part of the "quit" the last two games is simply the desire to get Jesse the ball.
Jesse was totally locked up, because he has no aggressive nature and Joe being hounded at Clemson. So where else was Judah going to go? And even he was fortunate to get his points with unexpected threes along with not being able to get to the basket.

A better game plan would have been to have better players.
