As we all look forward to seeing Alan Griffin play for the Orange I have part of the answer to why he would leave the #8 team in th country. The 2 guys IU has at the 2/3 are really really good. Dosunmu and Miller have gone for 28/21 and 28/15 the first 2 games. Im watching them play my alma mater on BTN right now as a great prelude to the beginning of the SU hoop season. LGO!

Wanted to be closer to home in a Pandemic. Also has a better chance here to get a lot more shots.

Do you like Alan?

Except in the second half when he'll see few passes from our two starting guards.

Thought the kid had a solid game, thanks to him and Buddy we somehow squeezed out a win.

He had a decent game. Got stuffed by the rim a couple of times. Wish he had just tried to lay those in

Yeah, I was having Paul Harris flashbacks there, until he managed to throw down that sick ooop!

(Which, was a pretty awful lob pass by JGIII that Alan somehow made up for)

That was a tremendous catch and finish. Maybe a top 10 SU alley oop.
Caveat: It's difficult to say because there were so many great ones in the 80s that I can't remember them all.
Edit: after rewatching a few times, I will knock it way down. A very nice finish but not classic. I must have been drunk.

Honestly, it’s more like Top 5.
(have another drink ;) )
For ooops - NOT for dunks overall.

Here’s why:
The ‘best’ ooop finishes, typically involve the worst ooop lob passes.
Where the finisher had to REEEEEEAAALY extend to catch the ball, and then windmill it around and down.

Think about Roberson’s ooop from Silent G @ Duke. That ball was almost beyond the backboard, and Robey still managed to extend for it, AND then throw it down with authority.

The degree of difficulty on plays like that is 9.9.

Sherm is the undisputed GOAT of ooops.
Mostly because he threw them so accurately.
Ball was on the rim, guys just needed to power it down. Easy peasy.
I’ll never forget one time he threw one up from behind the 3pt line - AND IT WENT IN!!!

He just jogged back down the court laughing about it.
(And props to his ooop target for laying off of it, or it woulda been basket interference.)

Sherm was the master. Of course, he had Stevie and DC at the receiving end. Man, I miss those days. So many fast breaks. So many dunks.
We routed a ranked Michigan in the Dome my freshman year (I think it was Feb-88). We had over a dozen dunks in that one.

the illini guard rotation is sick. they look like a true contender. i recall they were in the final 3 for guerrier. imagine him in their rotation

Seikely received his share too.
