After the Duke game it is quite clear. The ACC officiating has changed. We all thought that the officiating in this new conference of ours was going to stay constant with what it always has been; low contact, and favoring towards Duke and UNC.
But after this past Saturday, can anybody say that the officiating was not more "Big East" than "Old-ACC? Hence why the Duke fans are all up in arms about how they got screwed. They think that all 9 of our blocks were fouls, when we all know that we protect the rim like that every game (the Indiana tournament game last year comes to mind. The Hoosier fans complained about officiating the same way)
Now yes, this game was significantly higher scoring than most of our BE battles, but that is more predicated on the style of play of Duke than officiating.
If officiating stays constant, I can see us dominating this conference for a while. Duke and UNC do not have the athletes to handle it.
Welcome to the New ACC.
