Rain Delays in Baseball

Last night's Yankee game was delayed because of weather in the 9th innning at 10:40 p.m. and then resumed 3-1/2 hours later at 2:15 a.m. finishing at 2:44 a.m. When it's a non-playoff game, when do you say enough is enough and call it an official game? Certainly didn't do it for the fans either in the stadium or watching at home. A 3-1/2 hour rain delay seems a little bit ridiculous.
