Class of 2024 RB Ju'Juan Johnson (LA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (1/6/26)

Looking at his tape, he seems to try to run around people instead of through them. Are we sure he will be used as a RB?
There are some pretty good RBs who made a living avoiding tackles. I dont remember seeing Warrick Dunn or Eric Metcalf running over guys.

Granted we don't know the status of Will Nixon and how they plan to use Johnson.
We know the status of Will Nixon, now it makes sense to get another RB and I'm all for it being Lewis

These are just like our promising young guys who are transferring out. We're worried about losing Ross Hornsby and Singleton but they haven't produced either. It's all a crapshoot.
Just like Fran said the portal is swapping 2’s. The WR room needed thinning, we knew we would probably lose 1 or both of Ross/Hornsby. The question is if we’ll replace the Gill’s and despite what others say, Willis and Cook, who both produced at a decent level, especially considering what they were/n’t working with. We’ll have to wait and see because that’s a lot of production right there.

I asked my nephew, season ticket holder and knowledgeable about all things LSU, for his evaluation. Here goes:

"Brian Kelly underutilized him here, amongst other things. The kid came in as a DB, but was converted to RB, when we had depth issues before the 2024 season. He can play QB, but I don’t think he projects as that (although he would like to and may play it in spots for the CUSE).

The mismanagement of the RB's this past year by Frank Wilson was baffling.

Ju'Juan is a good kid, did everything asked of him, and team player, he just could never find his niche here.. When he did play, he didn’t really do anything to set himself apart to garner more playing time. Coaching didn't help.

Unfortunately, he doesn't really fit into Kiffin's offensive scheme, so I'm pretty sure he was told he could go back to DB and fight for playing time over there or go find somewhere else to play. He chose to go somewhere else. I assume he wants to play RB. He's a big RB, just needs to work on quick decision making and vision (better coaching should help).

He's a good kid. Look forward to watching him develop."

Yep love his size too, this is an apples to apples exchange with losing Willis, but with higher upside potential, and hopefully, without all the posturing and preening after making routine plays!

So I agree with ya, all that makes it a net positive IMO

Hopefully he’s coming in at safety. Just like the S. Carolina TE this is another SEC transfer who has yet to prove himself after 2 years in college. Both high risk, high reward. I’m weary of these transfers who haven’t produced yet in college after 2 years. This is the difference in the portal. Syracuse can only get these guys, while the ones with money get SEC/B10 transfers who are proven players. I would rather have got James Jones from Delaware St and Ahmad Miller from Jackson St.
I’m ok with them if they’re not QB’s. Jackson Meeks was this.

He could also play safety here. Will be intriguing what side of the ball he plays on. Love this pick up - elite athlete (top tier CFB) that will be able to contribute. High ceiling, low floor.
I doubt he was an expensive acquisition either….
