Hey Cali any chance of a visit to cuse one more time before the 25 th I know the family is running on a tight schedule but I know if rw and his dad could get a little face time with the staff it would be the difference. The staff is a great bunch and the family atmosphere comes through. Hell let them know if they want to make a trip up this Saturday I'll handle the tour and we can hit up the Dino for dinner. Heck of they want I'll take em to BC on the way home and they can hit rutgers after and knock 3 out in a couple dAys.

If Bam can't close the deal taking folks to Dinosaur BBQ, nothing's gonna do it!

Cali, I'm curious on this one and fairly certain I know the answer.
, but I'll ask anyways.

Once Robert commits (wherever he chooses to go) will he be locked in and not worry about second thoughts/change his mind? Obviously this is under normal circumstances, where he is still treated with the love/respect he deserves and the staff of the school he chooses stays intact and nothing else unbelievably unexpected happens.

Based on what I understand Roberts mentality will be similar to Shy's a year ago, once he commits he is staying with that school unless the extraordinary/unexpected happens. I think that's pretty much every kids intentions, but doesn't always end up the case, however given all the work, research and very clearly well thought out process Robert has had, I expect once he makes his decision, he will be locked in.which of course means if we want him, we have to win the first one as he won't flip. No way we get that lucky two years in a row with coaches leaving allowing us to get one of our favorites like we did with Pickard last cycle.

Yes once he commits it's a done deal. He committed to Mississippi State in the 9th grade and after that experience he slowed things up and has taken his time through the process. He received a offer in the 8th grade via Ole Miss and is pretty seasoned in the process.

I'm not Cali (could you tell?) but I have a guess: I'd say he's going to be locked in, because if for instance he commits to SU, well, there's not going to be a situation where a bigger school could suddenly come swooping in, because he's already got every big school, and will have turned them down once. So I would imagine that, if he committed to SU, he'd only waver if there were staff changes. But that's all just my guess, based on my own weird sense of logic. Definitely not trying to speak for him of course...but that's my hunch!

Pretty spot on

No visits currently plan but that could change.

I said this before on the thread if he was committing tomorrow it would be Syracuse
Thanks for your contributions to this discussion.

With regard to Florida, has Robert & family been in contact with our incoming DL from Alabama, Steven Clark, who chose between Florida and Cuse?

I just noticed we are off page 44 but I wanna keep the good vibes going because 45 is special too, since that was Ernie's number in Cleveland: I'm feeling pretty darn good about our position with Robert! I may be doing some wishful thinking...but I like our chances, guys. Fingers crossed!

Three things that, if they fall in place, are going to really change the program.
1. The last two recruiting classes are strong and, if these kids put it together, we are going to have a strong squad with actual depth. The depth is where there is not much drop off from 1 to 2 or even 3.
2. We have a strong year this year on the field. The schedule, other teams are going to be down (not scrub down but not as good) since they were so senior laden, maturity of our players.
3. Landing Robert. Robert really could be a program changer and, with his commitment and recruiting, he could be one of the strongest classes ever (last two years have been getting better and better). He goes to another school well he is just another 4 star commit. He comes here, he shows out, and he could very much be the embodiment of 44; a legend. He seems like a high character kid (like Ernie or Floyd) who others want to play with on the field and be around off. 10 years from now, if the train is back on the track, I can see them doing a 30 for 30 and RW being an important cog of getting the program back. Can he say that for any of the other schools on his list? No. He reminds me very much of when DeAngelo Williams chose to come to Memphis instead of Arkansas (It was amazing watching DW run the ball when he was with the Tigers).

These stories are very similar.

So very similar.

1. I give a check (except for the secondary. I think we have some talent at the ones but depth is razor thin.)
2. I think we go to a bowl. Stars align and we have a stellar season (two things have to come into place Lester as the OC, Hunt being an efficient passer). Personally, I think last year was a fluke. Hopefully what I see tomorrow will support that as vanilla as it might be.
3. Balls in Robert.s court.

I cannot fault him for choosing any of the teams on his list. These are all great schools and seems like a great young man. Will have to keep my eye on him through his career if he goes else where.

PS
I think we have good players and our program will move forward without him if he so chooses. By no means do I want to belittle the players who are here. I think our RB's coming in are going to be solid and one of the three might be stellar. I also think we might see one change positions in there career ala Hogue. RW just seems to have the it factor. He reminds me of Shamarko.

That's unique comparison. DeAngelo Williams trained and coached him when he was 11 years old. Picture below

That's awesome! You sure RW is not DW's son... brother from another mother? They look strikingly similar. Amazing guy to be tied to. What he was able to achieve when going through what he did as a child is outstanding. Much like Shamarko. As I tell my students I expect them to be HQP's (high quality people), and to do this you can't roll with LQP's (low quality people) because they are only looking to bring you to their level.

I can see RW doing for SU what DW did for the Tigers.

Tigers were in a state of mediocrity and it really was the talent of DW that took them to the next level. Much like SU, the Tigers were a program receiving less and less interest. I remember going to an almost empty Liberty Bowl and tickets were cheap if not given away for free unless filthy Ole Miss or UT was in town then they sold out.

DW came to town with Avery and Wimperine. The City of Memphis went crazy. The Tiger pride was high and DW actually had a campaign for a Heisman which was unheard of for the Tigers (much better back than Bush imho, the trophy is more like a Emmy in my eyes). The stadium went from having buzzards flying around and picking at the few that were there to being mostly full if not sold out.

SU is a much more solid program than the Tigers but RW could be the missing cog. I don't see this opportunity in any of his other final programs.

I also think that we have many outstanding young men already in the program and coming in this year. Young men who hold the same morals, ethics, and beliefs as Robert. If he commits, I think he will find a group of men who are very special people. This goes for the type of young man the staff is recruiting. We seem to be trying to take a page from the Stanford playbook.

Cali,

Has Robert paid any attention to the OL haul we have had the last few seasons? I am really high on this group as it could possibly be the best haul we have had ever depending on development. I think it is very encouraging for any back coming into the program. It would be of interest to me if I was a back. To bad I was a safety/lb type.

If that's the approach the staff wants to take that's perfectly fine. Everyone has their own recruiting tactics and approach. You have to respect that and it's respected by his family. But will that tactic beat out Michigan, TCU, Florida, UNC, Alabama or Tennessee? I'm all for whatever approach the staff at any school chooses. Let's see if that works out.

Yeah I hear you Cali, if you've got a card like that play it all the way; I'm not on the staff and personally I'd just give it to him day one. What I was thinking about was what would be good for Robert's adjustment to college and what might help push the athletic department in the right direction on this. I'm a 100% Restore 44 guy I was in the dome the day they retired it and was upset when the recently hired Athletic Director, at the time, did it without truly understanding it's importance as a living number in the program. At least that AD was recently moved out so hopefully this can happen now.

I hope Robert is Syracuse Orange and hope he's our next 44!

Qadry Ismail's number too. ;)

I wouldn't be too worried about the page number, this thread is going to 60 before his commitment, 70 if we don't get him and 100+ if he says SU.

I think this is going to be one of, if not the longest threads in board history when it's all said and done.

Maybe. The Ogundeko thread went on for 61 pages before it was locked. And that was before we tried to keep things about prospects in one thread...Ebo had multiples.
