Class of 2025 RB Tylik Hill (NJ) COMMITTED / SIGNED NLI TO SYRACUSE (12/26/24)

What value does height add to a RB?

Good question. Maybe it helps blocking and receiving but not really sure about the actual running of the ball as it would almost seem the shorter the harder to find.

What I saw and liked:

Great moves to make defenders miss
Great vision to find holes
An extra gear - nobody catches him from behind
Home run threat on every carry

What I did not see (doesnt mean Tylik cant do it, just didnt see it):

Blocking ability
Yards after contact
Pass catching ability (more than minimal)

I feel some of the best traits in a rb is great vision and quick acceleration. I have seen a number of small backs with great vision always seem to find an opening. Excited to see what he will bring to the rb room.

Sure didn't hurt Joe

Joe had a heck of a lot of carries per game as well. I'm curious on who had the most carries per game average at SU? Joe had to be in the top 3.

we only have a couple rbs at SU that have even come within 200 carries of Morris in his career.
Work horse no doubt, was with the Giants as well. Shows smaller sized guys can definitely do the job.

Last two years:

JaMeer Thomas, 5-10, 169
Tyshawn Russell, 5-11, 195
Darius Johnson, 5-10, 165
Julian McFadden 5-11, 170
Rich Belin, 5-11, 175
Malachi James 5-11, 195
Malachi Coleman, 5-10, 185
Tylik Hill, 5-10, 185

That’s a lot of smaller guys on offense. I’m not saying they all have the same skill sets, but that’s a lot of the same stature to add to the roster in two years.

I’m confident it will get sorted and 1/2 will be gone in two years, but 8 roster spots is an investment.

Check out the play at 6:20. Not sure I’ve seen that before. Ya he doesn’t have top end speed but I definitely like the shiftiness. Been a while since we had a back that I would consider shifty. The last one that comes to mind is maybe PTG.
Are we finally getting our Mike Hart?

He has a few clips where the linebacker appears to commit to a gap and he cuts into another gap and takes off. Looks like good vision and tough. But is he Csonka tough?
