Rebounding

got to remember we had a ton of blocks, 10 i think

you cant rebound a block
Ehh. We got 7. But very true. They don't go down as a rebound on the stat sheet, but it's still called a "recover" rebound

It was 15-16 with slight board edge to Pitt with 8 minutes left. Then fatigue set in. Pitt used 9 players to our 7.
Fortunately this was offset somewhat by 7 blocks and 7 steals. And finally, its freak'n amazing that we just know how to win games at crunch time. A phenomenal win to beat a very talented Pitt team.

That's what ESPN keeps mentioning. Somehow, some way, whether CJ gets it at the end, or Grant, or Ennis makes a move. We find a way to win. We have had a slew of those games so far this year, and it can only help us out in another month or so. Especially when we go on that road stretch.

We play four away games out of the last 5 in conference play. @ Duke, Fl St, Maryland, Virginia. That could get brutal.

grant had an off game on the boards , no biggy.

Late in the second half, Grant had a lesson about tough rebounding. It was on a free throw... I am sure JB reminded him.

I'm not a huge DC fan, but i think this is a game where he could have helped

If we're talking offensive rebounds then Pitt would have gotten the ball back anyways on his air balled layup a or while getting stuffed going up for one. If we're talking defensive we're talking about shots that probably never would have gone up if Rak or BMK were in there or he would have given up 10 points in 5 minutes of action with Pitt putting up uncontested layups in.

I really believe we're a better team with Rak and BMK full time at the 5 and DC sitting. If somebody HAS to come off the bench would rather it be Roberson over Coleman. He can have the minutes Rak would be getting at the 4 if Coleman was playing.

I think the issue was fatigue! CJ and Grant can't play 40mins! Personally I would like to see TR get 10mins 5 for CJ and 5 for Grant. The forward positions are the key rebounding positions in the zone and those two guys wore down. They also do most of the heavy lifting on offense they need a break!

I agree totally with this. Coleman absolutely could've helped vs Pitt even strictly for minutes distribution in the frontcourt. I think he could've bumped around with them more in the paint and helped with rebounding. He can't be pushed around like Grant and Keita.

nobody's mentioned this but our rebounding really suffered when we had to extend our guards way out to cover their shooters. xmas was on an island a lot of the time and pitt crashed well. usually our guards get in the mix when we're struggling, but given JB's ire re: losing Patterson too many times and him making us pay, Conney and Ennis were never in the mix. We gave up on rebounding a bit to cover those shooters...which ended up winning it for us.

I'm not sweating it.
