Recruiting Updates

Yes a class of 4 to 5 stars coming in with probaly everyone back besides Christmas and potentially one of McC/Roberson, will be a stacked team if everything works out. Next year will be fun to watch the current team develop.

Roberson won't be ready and I doubt McCullough will be either.

If we got "the one we wanted", it has to be Bryant.
It seemed to me Bryant is the guy they wanted a while ago

I feel like the staff wants Diagne more, just my opinion
Recently all the action seems to be us going after Diagne.

Who knows... As long as its the guy we wanted thats good. Also would be stellar if Jones holds out till next spring once we know if we are losing Roberson, CM or someone else allowing him to join us as well.

I thought Bryant was at event too?
Yes, checked the tourney results and Bryant's Team Scan was there too and they played Diagne's NJ Playaz team on Friday night. Diagne's team won 59-55.
Line:
Bryant 3 pts/6 rebs/0 blocks
Diagne 6 pts/6 rebs/2 blocks

So Autry watched both of them. So who knows what happens.

Those are your opinions, hardly fact

Opinions, exactly.

I hope they're NBA ready - well, that's a loose term nowadays - because that's good for us, the team.

But it will be a HUGE leap for either of them to make that jump in one year.

I'm not trying to be negative, just stating my opinion.

I don't believe that to be true. We've had countless examples of players making the sophomore leap [in Roberson's case].

Hardly a stretch to envision him being exponentially more productive next year, let alone ready to step up.

Not knocking your opinion--just pointing out that he might be more "ready" than you give him credit for.

We all know that.

I expect McCullough to think he's ready even if he isn't.

SU develops its players even when they do not play a lot. A lot of people think we will struggle next year but this is the type of team that JB usually does very well with. I also think Buss is going to be a real good player in that zone plus he shoots it pretty well. I think it is a lot easier to just play when you know you won't be pulled every time you make a mistake.

Just have a feeling it is Diane, he fits in what you would want when recruiting. Big guy who can develop with high ceiling with an A grade point average. In the end I think we end up with Jones also, and Bryant goes to WV. I think we forget that we have Coleman, Chino, and Diagne so no need for another big. Lydon is 6-9, lets assume McC or Roberson one is still there so you have another 6-8 to 6-10 forward. Jones is 6-8 by the time he reaches campus. That's enough height particularly since the two guards are 6-5 plus, BJ Johnson is 6-7 and MBG is 6-7.

Coleman you never know how his recovery will go and Chino is very raw. We are also loaded at SF and SG so someone would have to leave early by transfer or NBA to take Jones. I still would like Bryant and Diagne but I guess it would be hard to say no to Jones? Whatever happens it is definitely exciting time to be an Orange fan!

Worrying over which top player we get is certainly a good problem to have. Even if we only get one of the three (which is more than likely) then I think we are almost guaranteed a top 5 class this year, and the best part is that they all fit our system really well.

Yes you are correct Coleman is the wild card, but even if you got both, instead of having 2 raw big men, Chino and Diane you would have three with Bryant. Most big men are going to be raw, that why it is critical Coleman recovers. If not we are going to have some raw big guys. Christmas will be a beast next year and hopefully Coleman gets back. If not we are going to have you raw guys in the middle which if our forwards develop that may be enough.

It takes a top class to keep up with NC, Duke and the Ville.
AZ, Kansas and Kentucky are the other perennial top recruiters. Other teams can pull off a top recruiting class but not consistently. I want consistent top recruiting classes. JB is at the height of his prestige. Lets take advantage.

I'm not doubting the sources at all, but I am starting to get a little freaked out especially with the news of offering Gowan. Was it going to be announced by 1 May or Friday?

Huge but nowhere near unprecedented.

If SU just offered Gowan, maybe that is the commitment that was mentioned above? Personally I would be disappointed with that outcome. Would be very happy with Djiange or Bryant. Interesting to see fans on this board have strong preferences either way. Hey, why not get both!

Doubtful. The one mentioned above was described as landing the "one we wanted."

We got the one we wanted.

So for those who were saying good news is imminent, what's the deal? I think I've broken Syracuse.com and this site with the amount of times checking for the commit news since Sunday. Set my mind at ease, tell me this is still happening!

Ok so tommarow is Friday, have we heard any thing about an announcement?
