Red article on The Athletic

Yep. He won the offseason. Roster reconstruction has been impressive.

If he can coach [and in fairness, there's no way to know at this point], he'll be a great hire.
The bottom line in coaching is how you learn to make the right adjustments. He spent years working for a master of that art. He should be fine. if he struggles one can always bring in a wise old head as an assistant to help him
Should not need it but we will see when the bright lights are on him.

Great article… one of my favorite parts was reading that he is giving other coaches a chance to run drills. Did this happen in the past? I know JB didn’t really give coaches much of a chance in game… wonder if Autry will be different.

“Benny Williams seems to have his swagger back. “Time to prove that I belong,” the one-time top-50 player says. “Benny Williams is here.””

Third person Benny let’s gooooooooooo
I still cannot believe this quote. He’s going to average like 13, 8 and block at least every other game. Oh boy.

Assistant coaches ran many of the drills under JB. Assistant coaches predominately ran the practices, especially later in JB's career and especially when Hop was here.

I think Benny Williams turned the corner at the end of last season.

I think he's going to be very good this year, getting a lot of open shots as the designated shooter in the three guards lineup and a lot of transition baskets as well.

If he can be ferocious on the boards, he'll be borderline great for us. Great. His physical tools are there, his mental game wasn't helped by JB.

But even before the coaching change, Williams had come through the darkness, and he'd arrived.

Now he's going all Primetime using the third person. We're getting an All new guy this year.:)

If you’re right, and we’re solid at the 5 like the coaches believe, this will be a very good team.

Yep people forget the old days when most kids took a couple years to mature and come into their game. Let’s hope that pattern fits here.

The assistants always ran the first 45-60 minutes of practice. It was always used for player development.

I love Red and everything he’s done. My only concern is the same as everyone else. A winning coach is a weird combo of skills. And one of those skills is being a sorcerer. That takes time to develop.

True.. there are also far fewer "sorcerers" out there today as a new era unfolds. Having a lot talent helps a great deal- Scheyer took time to find his groove but having consistency with assistants and talent helps a lot. Odds are in his favor for sure but we have to be patient with the bad days that will be part of the learning curve.

The good programs are generally still the good programs but you get the outliers like FGCU, Loyola and, now, FAU, where the great coaching really matters.

I've always been a big believer in Red, but so far, he has exceeded my expectations on the recruiting trail. I think it's crazy to believe he can march through Maui unscathed, but if he can show the players that they belong, this will be a huge building block.

We know anything can happen during the season, and historically around here, it's been injuries and suspensions that have derailed seasons, but maybe it really is a new era for Syracuse basketball.

Let's hope the fanbase really supports Red and the program with fannies in the seats. It's really the thing I would like to see the most, although the 2nd most follows closely behind and that is how good can Judah Mintz be in his 2nd season.

Most of us are not Dana O'Neil fans, but she wrote a nice article, that continues to justify paying a few bucks every month for the Atlantic.
