Showing them videos of how they want them to play, and who in the league they could try to model their game after, seems impressive to me. It's a great way to get buy-in - 'This is what we're trying to do'.

The best coaches are able to communicate how they hope to make players better. I see this in European soccer all the time; they are as video-heavy as the NFL. Tailored instruction, breaking down film. Little tips and advanced statistics to help them make better choices in real time.

I really like hearing this. It has to help with player buy-in, and to have them recruit the guys they wanted to play with, and who knew already how we intended to use these guys. I loved how Donnie and JJ were at all the "closing" dinners for the top target guys.

It seems like they have built this group very purposefully. It bodes well.

My beef with last year's offense was using Eddie as the pick man 25 feet from the basket. He isn't making that shot if you pass it to him. Donnie should have always been the high pick man, and not find himself hanging out on the wings looking for a jumper.
