So some dude says the best player on the team is sitting, what the heck is he watching. So it might wind up being another one of those kind of seasons...

I am not concerned over that post. Chris played better with those guys last year. He came in with that group and I am sure he misses them on and off the court. He’s a kid frustrated after a bad game. He deleted it and removed the other likes too. I’m glad all my dumb decisions at 20 weren’t closely monitored by the world. He came in with high expectations and isn’t performing.
I don’t agree with this comparison at all. McCord legitimately wants to win and was upset he was hurting the team. Chris comes off as being angry he didn’t get his. It’s not hard to play hard when you’re not making shots. That’s all people are asking for. -16 plus/minus last night tells you he doesn’t give a crap about the other end if he’s not scoring. Multiple possessions on defense he was caught napping. That's a bit of a harsh take. We're not seeing Chris do anything toxic; he had a bad game (maybe a skid), got benched, and is upset about it. He looked dejected as he went through the handshake line, I legit felt sorry for him.
That's not an abnormal reaction, nor is it a good headspace to play any sport at your best. And that sort of sport psychology absolutely falls under coaching IMHO. Like when Fran was consoling Kyle after all the interceptions at Pitt--lots of people didn't like that, yet, Kyle bounced right back the next game.
Besides Brown, the rest are doing nothing and are playing at schools we’ll never hear from them again. If Bell doesn’t want to suck it up and get coached hard, just leave now and spare the coaching staff of being psychologists to keep his head on straight. He did nothing tonight that garnered any playing time. He deserved to sit. He can whine about it or do something to change the way he’s playing.
Personal asperations vs team success has always been an issue at all levelsI don’t agree with this comparison at all. McCord legitimately wants to win and was upset he was hurting the team. Unfortunately, a zebra doesn’t change his stripes just because he’s surrounded by new zebras. What we’ve seen consistently from Chris Bell is who he is. Talented kid, but has a poor attitude and a selfish streak. I’d rather see guys like Moore, Taylor, cuffe, and hopefully Westry eventually get those minutes. Those guys give max effort. Go with a three guard lineup that most teams play with anyway. Play up tempo, scrap, force the other team to adjust to our style rather than the other way around.
Westry solves a lot of issues if he can ever get on the court healthy. He’s big, good defender and can play with the ball in his hands. Also keeps JJ and Choppa in their natural roles.Unfortunately, a zebra doesn’t change his stripes just because he’s surrounded by new zebras. Agreed. He could be the missing linchpin. Big question mark though considering he really hasn’t played in two years. The whole “he’s not in game shape yet” thing that Red keeps saying confuses me though. I get that he’s been injured, but physically he looks jacked. It shouldn’t take more than a week or two of practice for an in shape 20 year old to get his wind back to at least be able to play some minutes. If Red is waiting for a blowout to get him minutes, that may never happen (although we could very well get blown out at Tennessee).Westry solves a lot of issues if he can ever get on the court healthy. Can someone explain this to me? He isn't going to leave in the middle of the season, is he?
Unlike Andy, I don't think Red has given up drinking. If Andy Dufresne was a reporter in that postgame presser, the word “obtuse” would have been used.

His attitude and everything was so different all offseason. Lights out in practice. Focal point of the team. 6 games in and he’s back to his old tricks. It’s unfortunate. I also think Chris is feeling the pressure of what he was told this summer that he was getting looked at by NBA scouts and he is not rising to the occasion and that’s why there is so much frustration yet again. Unfortunately right now Chris Bell is trying to help Chris Bell and not the team. But give Red credit, he played Lucas in key moments last nightI wish I knew what Red saw in him because I haven't seen it in now his 3rd year. This guy isn't right.
I coach at the high school level and had a kid miss a month with mono. Once he was cleared it took a few days of practice and he was right back to 100%. I get that there’s a HUGE difference between HS conditioning and college conditioning, and I also realize everyone recovers differently…but Red even said he could play a few minutes at a time. IMO give him those few minutes! I guess I’m just impatient to see Westry play. He’s like a unicorn to all of us.He's recovering from Mono (according to scuttlebutt).
It takes at least 4-6 weeks until the fatigue goes away. You're not 100% for months.
Your high school student didn't also miss two years before mono with an injury.I coach at the high school level and had a kid miss a month with mono. So we only gotta wait 6 more games you're saying .Westry is our 2002-03 Billy Edelin.
When Red unleashes him, there's no turning back.

You are correct. I just want to see Westry play even if just for two minutes to know that he actually exists!Your high school student didn't also miss two years before mono with an injury.
“Coach doing you dirty”? Their yes-men friends are morons and don’t help matters. So it might wind up being another one of those kind of seasons...

I believe he was just cleared to practice again after his illness. Red and the staff have to see how he plays in practice. You want to put him in when he’s ready to contribute.Agreed. I think some of these guys play for the attention rather than to play. Not a lot, but some.Bell won't ever be a pro if he can't fight through his problems. I was hoping having veteran seniors would help him but TBD.
He should delete social media and just focus on basketball. No outside distraction.
