Westry had about 20 family members there yesterday in Section 124. He pulled off warm up top at one point when Red went over and talked to him on the bench. I would thank that, as reported, he is close to getting a few minutes. No idea what to expect from him when the time comes, but it will come.

This team needed 2 overtime’s to beat Youngstown state, a team Ohio state beat by 40! They needed a player to fall on his final drive to beat Colgate, a team Drexel beat by 17! They sweat it out against le moyne, a team that lost to cal state northridge by 20!

This is not unreasonable fans being unreasonable, this rationale fans looking at a crap product and worrying that we are holding onto a dud because hes gotten a couple recruits despite that fact that he hasn’t shown any ability to coach

You have zero credibility. You were the worst JB apologist at the end of his career, saying he deserved another year when the wheels had long since fallen off that wagon, with little effort put into recruiting, building a team around Buddy as the star (love the kid but come on) and sticking to 100 percent zone for years on end with diminishing returns.

Even if he's not yet in game shape, I'm surprised he can't steal like 4-5 minutes. It's one thing to not be in shape to play 25 minutes, but another if he's currently unable to move quickly, stay in front, etc.

He can be a great and loved player, doesn’t make him a good coach, See Ewing. 3-0 is such a bad crutch to lean on when each game has been last minute escapes against sub 200 kenpom opponents. Last year appears to be a well played season by the players in spite of coaching versus it being as a result. I’ll gladly be wrong but 3 games in and the defense is even worse than last year, which I thought was impossible

Red won 20 games last year with JBs spare parts and crappy chemistry. He’s got a brand new squad this year that he’s trying to figure out how to play together. He’s got a Top 5 class next year. There’s zero chance he’s not here next year.

Forgive me, but you and Bulldog keep saying we have a Top 5 class coming in next year? I know we have 4 solid guys signed at this point, but where is the class rated Top 5? I think I've seen 8th at best and I'm assuming that will drop once other high profile guys commit to schools. Or is this implying we have Constanza coming also?

I believe I saw 6th somewhere. Still its a snapshot in time. I'm very happy with the guys signed for next year but from a rating standpoint they each may go up or down. We could still add. Lots of high end players unsigned that will sign somewhere.

The thing to look at is a second class in a row including a 5star forward. Second class in a row with a foreign player. Closed on a highly rated legacy player. Getting Kiyan is a great indication that we are moving in the right direction, loosing him however would have said a lot more about moving in the wrong direction. Overall Red is showing that recruiting will not be an issue so long as we see on court results.

Yeah, it certainly appears that way. I think he makes some legit points/arguments without candy coating things. People should debate the merits, compartmentalize and stay on point vs. getting personal and the like. It actually says more about those that simply throw shade and dismiss him vs. debating the subject matter objectively and constructively IMO.

It goes without saying there will be no shame in people happily admitting being wrong if the team all the sudden starts looking like a completely different group playing high level winning basketball.

That said the start of this season is a few clutch plays away from looking like Louisville did to start 2 years ago. That makes it tough to have much optimism to project until proven otherwise.

Good post, but there are a few pieces to work with. JJ finally had a game where he seemed to realize what he needs to be to win. I still say Bell has the talent if the lightbulb goes on to be very good, and that's what disappoints me. This is his 3rd year, and he hasn't stepped forward. The 2 Freshman show promise and both should play. Eddie is good on offense, and on defense who knows?

Exactly. I logged in just so I could post something about McLeod, and Westry. The reporters don’t ask the hard questions.

The previous two games Autry was asked about McLeod and he said that they had smaller guys playing the center position that were quicker. This guy was huge and the McLeod was still on the bench.

Also, let’s be honest about Carlos. He’s not an ACC caliber point guard, they need to do something like either move starling to the point guard and put Moore into the two guard position. I’m guessing that Carlos will continue to start because Autry seems loyal, as he had Taylor start the entire season last year. If chance Wester is available, if you can’t get minutes in a double overtime game, I don’t know what’s going on.

My guess is, and it is only that, they don't want to bring Westry in to a tight game. Not right out of the chute. I would suspect and hope they thought at least one of these three games would be a walk over.
