There is home call advantage and then there is that stinky rotten thing whatever you called it.
Go Cuse!!
Go Cuse!!
Really happy with our effort. Some of the offensive fouls against us were questionable; but at the end of the day UNC just got more 50/50 balls than us. It seemed like every loose ball they got to first. I really have no idea how we were so close at the end, G was up and down all game. Cooney/Mali/Lydon were invisible it seemed like.
PS. The last 6 minutes or so, Lydon was open A LOT on the screen and roll but we never hit him, it was frustrating

Speaking of the refs though, way too quick with the offensive call charges tonight. How they called that one on Frank in the first half still blows my mind. That wasn't close and preventing guys from sliding under guys already in the air was supposed to be one of the points of emphasis last year I thought. That was awful.
That last O foul on Mali, grayson does that every single time and maybe gets called 1 in 10 on GA. Tough call on Mal, guy was bumping his hip
Doris was right on that one - so many issues with that call. Player wasn't set. Player was in the protected circle.
Would like to have seen that play near half-court again where UNC saved it, and G was on his back. Looked like he switched pivot feet to make the pass.
The second to last basket by UNC, long rebound, Johnson or whomever, went through Roberson to tip it out. Just because it's a long rebound, doesn't cancel out over the back if you come from behind.
Thought they were bad both ways though - overall, pretty bad job by the threesome.
I agree on the bad calls both ways. I thought Roberson took the ball off the rim a couple times tonight and didn't get whistled. Refs are just awful this year. It's getting progressively worse all the time.
Yeah, there was one instance where I thought we goaltended really blatantly, even saw UNC's bench leap-up...but no call, and as usual, no replay. They sucked on replays tonight.
That Stephens dude was blowing the whistle for charges on our guts before there was even contact
Within the first 10 minutes of the 1st half it was 7-0 fouls in favor of us. I feel like the refs tried to make a BUNCH of make up calls -- UNC wasn't getting to the basket much so they had to call it on us offensively to even the numbers. G literally had 2 charges in a row, I'm not sure I've ever seen that.
The angle on the second one made it hard to tell if it was legit. Did he extend the arm on that one too?
Doesn't seem like it even matters anymore. As a defender all you need to do is grab the offensive players arm, pull it into your chest, and move backwards just a bit.
It seems as though, now that there is the arc, the refs have gotten lazy and mostly look at whether the defender is inside or outside the arc. If the defender is outside the arc, they call charge.Speaking of the refs though, way too quick with the offensive call charges tonight. Yeah, Mike Stephens is usually bad news. That Stephens dude was blowing the whistle for charges on our guys before there was even contact
Never one to blame the ref's but I thought it was pretty funny that within a minute of the announcers pointing out how SU had only 1 foul and UNC had 6, G was called for an offensive foul (forearm against a defender who was riding him which I cant remember ever being called), THEN another one. And the next thing you know. SU had the same 3 of fouls as UNC because UNC didn't get called for any more. Starting the 2nd half, they reversed it, SU got the early foul led and UNC caught up!There is home call advantage and then there is that stinky rotten thing whatever you called it.
