Class of 2022 Remaining Targets

I agree a transfer DL would be great but you still have to learn the system. Roscoe made the jump his second year.

To me, that's the concern about waiting to bring in a guy after the Spring.

This is the recruiting forum. If you want to have discussions on players already on campus take it to the football forum or your posts will be moved or deleted.

It appears we're down to the Dartmouth defensive back and then a bunch of project BListers. The TE Stilanos kid I don't believe ever visited here. Maybe we'll get lucky on some unknown TE transfer but right now I'm not seeing anything, or Center/Tackle for that matter.

I'm somewhat surprised we didn't look at any JUCOs this year.

Here's a list of uncommitted P5 transfers at WR, TE and DT. I don't know anything about these kids other than the name on the jersey but here goes. (HS height weight). I'll put some OL together later.

TE Mike Trigg (USC) 6-4 245 4 star from Tampa Florida
TE Trinity Bell (Tennessee) 6-7 265 3 star from Albertville, AL
TE Jaelyn Lay (Clemson) 6-6 261 4 star from Riverdale, GA
TE Josh Rawlings (Virginia) 6-5 230 3 star from Pittsburgh, PA
TE Trenton Gillison (Michigan St) 6-5 220 4 star from Pickerington, OH
TE TJ Banks (West Virginia) 6-5 260 3 star from North Versailles, PA
TE Desmond Daniesl (Louisville) 6-4 220 3 star from Fairburn, GA

WR Devonte Lee (LSU) 6-1 223 4 star from Amite, LA
WR Kaemen Marley (Tennessee) 6-3 195 4 star from Ramseur, NC
WR Bru McCoy (Texas) 6-3 220 5 star from Santa Ana, CA

DT Myles Tapusoa (Arizona) 6-3 325 3 star from Salt Lake City, UT
DT Chris Murray (TCU) 6-3 240 3 star from Wichita Falls, TX
DT Andy Boykin (Arkansas) 6-4 290 3 star from Lagrange, GA
DT Sincere David (Ole Miss) 6-3 300 3 star from Jacksonville, FL
DT Corey Suttle (Iowa State) 6-4 245 3 star from Jefferson City, MO
DT Jaquon Griffin (Georgia Tech) 6-0 276 3 star from Rome, GA
DT Gary Smith (Duke) 6-2 310 mid 3 star from Shelbyville, TN
DT Almosse Titi (Maryland) 6-3 310 3 star from Tampa, FL
DT Solomon Wright (Arkansas) 6-0 270 3 star from Vian, OK
DT Darel Middleton (Tennessee) 6-7 305 3 star from Oak Ridge, TN

*side note on HS ratings. All but a few of the 3 star kids were mid to high 3s. They'd be ranked as high or higher than anyone we currently have +/- Nolton. disclaimer these ratings dont mean jack once you're in college.

We offered Mike Trigg and with our new WR Coach recently from Florida perhaps he might become an option. Having a pass catching TE with ability like he has could add a huge punch to our offense!

I think Money pegged it correctly, we're going to try to close on a transfer or two that we're already involved with, and then have another wave of chasing portal transfers who enter their names after spring practice.

Just spoke with Mike Trigg, father of #USC TE Michael Trigg. He confirmed that Michael will enter the transfer portal. He didn't rule USC out as an option moving forward, but he said Michael wants to go to a school where he'd be a high-volume pass catcher (1/2) ...

Trigg would be a homerun but I would imagine he'll be highly sought.

I think Josh Rawling withdrew from the transfer portal a few days before Christmas.

TJ Banks committed to Akron in early January.

Yup. It's January. We have time. I would love for them to all be mid year enrollees as well but you also don't want to rush and get the wrong guys. There could be more quality players entering the portal this spring. We also cant spend too much time with guys that are not reciprocating the interest.

We offered Trigg out of high school, there's been no report anywhere of us offering him out of the portal and so far he's visited Oklahoma and Ole Miss from what I've seen.

Yes and why not us? We have the coaches to make it work!

Because kids need to reciprocate interest. Yes we have some positives but we're a million miles away from a big time program and we average about 20k fans right now. It's a hard sell to a kid like Trigg.
A very interesting point of view!

I would say, in my order of importance:

1. interior offensive lineman - we have a lot of rangy guys who project as tackles, I want a big ugly;

2. defensive tackle - ready to play, please - portal / JUCO;

3. True Stud WR - don't get me wrong, the kid from Mich State is nice, but not a lot of track record, so he's no guaranteed upgrade; I'd like a guy who is at least 6-3, quick off the line, had say 50 catches at a G5 team and still has a year or two of eligibility;

4. TE who can catch. We already have guys who can block.

We have to be able to throw the ball over the middle of the field on a low risk pass that will usually get you 5-10 yards. We need that in our offense for the rest of it to work better. Hard to understand how past offensive coordinators have not valued the middle of the field.
I think this is where we focus going forward

Bump - Updated the list. If I'm missing anyone that has reported an offer out of the portal on twitter or any high schoolers that have done the same, let me know.

I would love to see:
Taisun Phommachanh, QB/FBP
Brian Greene, C
Myles Cecil, DT

I'm not familiar with any of them, but I would love to see us get the quarterback, just to listen the fun announcers would have with trying to pronounce his name!

Based on OrangeExtreme's list tacked above, we have 7 open slots, although there are probably at least 2 possible PWO's that could be brought on scholarship (Darton for sure). These are the only prospects as of Dec 15th that I'm reasonably certain we were/are pursuing or had interest in.

With Isaiah on board, we are in pretty good shape right now.

Think we would like to add a DT, a TE and an OL. Maybe a WR or LB too if it was the right one. Expecting we will lose a player or two from the roster by the end of spring ball and end up needing to add 4 or 5 more to fill things out for the fall.

I think we can safely rule out taking any more placekickers, punters, long snappers, QBs, and defensive backs.

I agree... Darton and Cooper cloud the numbers... Not sure if they can be retained without bumping them onto scholarship... I'd hate to lose either...
