Remember JB’s transition game the first 30 years give or take?

We still had a very good transition game, with the guards looking to leak out and push the action, even after we went exclusively zone in 2009-10. It all changed suddenly went Ennis arrived. Some of us have speculated that Ennis just preferred the slower pace. No reason was ever really articulated. It's a shame because that team - despite its 25-0 start - played in a lot of close games and would have greatly benefitted from easier scoring opportunities. They had the personnel to push the pace so a bit of a mystery, and the close games eventually caught up with them before the house of cards collapsed.

Post-Ennis is where the talent noticeably declined and may have further discouraged JB from getting back to the run-n-gun days.

In today's game, you need to be really disciplined in m2m, limit teams to 1 shot, and be able to punish them with athleticism. Not sure we'll be able to hit on all cylinders just yet... unless we land another STUD guard/forward to push Bell/Taylor/Copeland out of starter's minutes.
