remember when people here didn't want Chip Kelly?

Even if Oregon hadn't locked up Kelly he had better options than SU. We were the worst program in the BCS when Robinson got canned. No way Kelly was ever coming here. Anyone who didn't want him was nuts but it was a moot point
agree that it was moot. i was just razzing the people who didn't think he was good enough

Kelly was pretty well known in the coaching community for being an innovator, it was his offense that ripped Rutgers to pieces back in the day when he was with UNH. Bellotti at Oregon just had the balls to hire him, probably cost him his job a few years earlier than he wanted it to but so be it.

Was Leach unemployed at the time we hired Marrone, can't remember. Don't think he was.

Once Marrone left, I reallllllllllyy wanted Diaco.

Glad we have Shafe for sure
wow, forgot about him.

i was beating his drum pretty hard in place of SS.

i think leach was UE for SS hire as well, not marrone.

I liked Holtz because he was pretty successful at ECU. Also, I don't think he was ever taken seriously or even a candidate but I really wanted June Jones. Prolific offense at Hawaii, and has been successful at SMU. Has been to 4 bowls in his first 5 years and broke something like a 20 year bowl-less streak. Not to mention he took over a 1-11 team. Been a west coast guy but his offense would definitely work in the carrier dome.

Leach would have been a dream, but he wasn't going to leave texas tech for syracuse after the 2008 season. He went 11-2 and was in and out of the top 10 all year. Signed a massive contract after that season, only to then be fired before their 2009 bowl game. I don't think he was ever realistic.

Oh yeah I knew you were ;) those who didn't want him may have had a meth problem
