Wish I could like this one twice...Rocco.
Wish I could like this one twice...Rocco.
That's a name that keeps popping up. Sounds like he would be a solid addition to the staff. Orange in his veins, major Florida connections, successful coaching experience.We need a young dynamic recruiter with strong ties to FLA... Rocco Casullo please.
@Stephen_Bailey1
Jeff Bertani, North Miami Beach HS coach and best friend of George McDonald, said "no truth" to Florida rumor. Spoke w/ George at 9 a.m.
@Stephen_Bailey1
Bertani said McDonald has not even spoken with Florida.
This doesn't mean anything to me. Of course everyone will deny it and laugh it off. IF he is joining the UF staff it wouldn';t be until after NSD. It could screw Shafer (his buddy) with this years recruiting class. We aren't in danger of losing any of our current So Florida commits to UF, but they may look at other places (even though none of them had other offers?). Still the move wouldn't be made until after NSD. I'd put my money on George being the WR coach at UF.
IF that happens I think the first call goes to Rocco Casullo. Lester has No Florida under control, but we will obviously need a So Florida recruiter. Rocco is the guy. You can promote Acosta in a sense to WR's, and maybe some of George's titles to make him happy with some more money, and then bring in Rocco for TE/ST's.
As for Eric White there is no way in hell George would have the pull to bring White with him. Plus it's not like he's a football coach, he's a support staff guy through and through.
Going to be interesting to see how this plays out. There should be at least 2 moves after NSD, this could be 1.
The question remains if Casullo can even coach TEs/ST otherwise we have another Joe Adam situation on our hands.This doesn't mean anything to me. Of course everyone will deny it and laugh it off. Depending on what happens, the recruiting area I would like to see addressed (all other things being equal of course) is the Atlantic seaboard, from MD down to GA. We have a good thing building in the Atlanta area and I would like to see that stoked. It would also be great to get in on the MD/DC/VA/NC area. No reason we shouldn't, given our conference. Augmenting the FL presence and picking up mid-Atlantic would give us footholds in Chicago, FL, NY/PA/NJ, GA, and MD/DC/VA. That is a great footprint for our program.This doesn't mean anything to me. Other one on defensive side of ball?
No offensive. You could probably figure it out, but should't post anything until official since it's before NSD and all that stuff.
As for this McDonald stuff where there is smoke there is usually fire. This could be totally false about the UF job, but there was no secret he was interested in moving on, and UF would be the perfect side step for him. But there is absolutely nothing positive to come out of him admitting he would be taking the job 1 month before NSD. This could really have a negative effect to the Cuse recruiting class.

I knew I shoulda paid the extra to join the secret side of the board...is it money or do I have to become a made man?It's the most known secret in Syracuse right now who the other coach is.

Serious question... how is Rocco viewed by other coaches in SoFla?
My thoughts exactly. I mean, he's a Syracuse alumni who has done well by himself at STA. Maybe my thoughts are completely off base, but given all this push on this message board, I had to ask the question to hopefully get steered straight. I just cannot imagine that the coaches at public high schools in South Florida would love a guy who they compete against, yet has the ability to poach all the talent he wants from them. Seems odd.I've been wondering this. Coaches in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties must love the guy who coaches the program that poaches all of their players.
I would be surprised if Shafer did not already know who he wants and any other changes he wants to make. If correct, we should find out fairly soon.
