Red was indifferent to fundraising for at least the first year of his tenure as HC. I suspect a substantial part of the HC hiring process will be to determine who has (a) preexisting sources of NIL and (b) who’s most adept at shaking down SU boosters and potential donors.

Funding isn’t static.

What this says to me is that Red came into this job watching a head coach who had been coasting for the entire time he was an assistant, and thought "that's all it takes".

It tells me that he's not that competitive a person, he doesn't have an inquisitive mind, to not want to know all about the new NIL reality that was all over the news, and all over the sport, whether or not Boeheim wanted to deal with it.

Boeheim was a lazy recruiter for the last 10-15 years, and Red or Gerry where no where near Mike in terms of signing recruits.

Fran Brown (even Doug Marrone) came in with a plan.

Red feels like a guy who got that "institutional promotion" when it was his turn, and just acted like his boss, just doing a 9 to 5 job and then going home to his family.

That's not what high level coaching requires.

As it currently stands, I feel confident saying we're safely in the top half of the ACC for both football and men's bball. So yes, i think the money is there.

The money is there to be competitive. Is the coaching?

The most predictable thing ever was some folks who said the talent was really good this summer changing their tune and now saying we’re NIL poor and the talent isn’t good enough.

The talent is pretty good. No way either of Red's first two teams beat Tennessee and play tough games against Houston and Kansas. It's not even debatable.

Yep. And as much as it pains me to say this, but if we can’t compete with the Kentucky’s and Indiana’s of the world, and we have to make a choice, then I’m for funding hoops to be a national power and letting football wallow. The latter is more likely a pipe dream anyway. Let’s be really good at something instead of mediocre everywhere.

But the problem is that football brings in many multiples more of TV money than hoops does.

Absolutely not giving him a pass even though I was one of the last few to accept the inevitability of a change coming.
On the other hand I am genuinely curious what productive outcome anyone thinks continuous negativity brings. Booing and chanting fire the coach won’t impact the change or its timing. Expectations of meaningful games in March has been publicly stated. Reading Donna’s article yesterday confirmed that the players are affected and feel the added pressure. And prospective replacements and roster additions may or may not notice, but if they do it is certainly not in a positive light.
I’ll be at every remaining home game cheering for the program and, when the time comes, will give the same support to the next guy up.

It's never good to boo the home team, but lack of effort pisses people off.
You and I know that Syracuse has forever been a scrappy, hard-working, kick your butt blue collar town. If players don't try, well, they're getting paid for it now.

I get the frustration and displeasure and share it. And I absolutely have leant my voice to letting a ref know when I think he is not performing at an expected level. The difference is I don’t support or cheer for a ref and am not emotionally invested.
And I don’t think it’s an either or, apathy or booing.
Maybe it’s because I have seen it all in 50 plus years of fandom, but I go to every game regardless of the record and pull for my team.
Again understand the frustration and how some feel a need to vent. Just don’t see any rationale that there is a productive purpose - driving an outcome that may improve things - and can understand that it may be counterproductive.
No issues if others disagree.

Booing and "Fire Autry" chants are dumb and useless. The feelings behind them are not. And the thousands and thousands of people every home game that are staying home are a lot louder than the boos and the chants.
