He'll be reffing the NAIA tournament next year. That's unbelievable. That's the ref bet on the game kind of BS.
No way in the world he can make that call.
Completely indefensible.
He got lucky we closed it out.
It's al ays suspicious to me when the refvfurthest away runs in with a call. Watching the replay that should have been 2 shots and the ball.no attempt to play the ball.
There's my boy! That's the spelling I'm used to. Either you've had a few tonight, or you're posting quick. Either way, you're right.
I've had a fair share of blown gaskets over the years at ref calls going against SU... but that one tonight sent me all the way over the edge. My wife was genuinely frightened and very nearly called for the paramedics.
Simply one of the worst basketball calls I've ever seen.
well yeah I calmed for a few seconds when they went to the monitors, but then realized it wasn't something they could actually review/overturn and I went into another level of hystericsI didn't even get that worked up, because I thought for sure they were going to overturn it when they went to the monitor.
If syracuse lost all the idiots like gottlieb would have said Syracuse didn't deserve to be in and got what was coming to them. It would have been buried. We won we move on...screw these idiots.I don't know how you miss that, he is lucky Syracuse won.
Two things baffle me about that call...That's unbelievable. That's the ref bet on the game kind of BS.

It was legit maybe the worst. To make that call when he had no angle. He had three guys in front of him. He would have to of had super powers to correctly seen if he was ACTUALLY out of bounds. He legit just guessed and was completely wrong. Criminally bad. Guys like that, cant officiate games like this. Bottom line.I've had a fair share of blown gaskets over the years at ref calls going against SU... but that one tonight sent me all the way over the edge. My wife was genuinely frightened and very nearly called for the paramedics.

What a win!Even spell check cannot check my splling
I was mad because while I knew they were going to over turn it, it deprived us of having TC shoot the free throws and not having to inbound the ball. And then they tell us zags ball...I didn't even get that worked up, because I thought for sure they were going to overturn it when they went to the monitor.
How can that not be reviewable? It's not a judgment call. NCAA rules committee really needs to get their heads out of their asses this offseason.well yeah I calmed for a few seconds when they went to the monitors, but then realized it wasn't something they could actually review/overturn and I went into another level of hysterics
I agree. It baffles me that he made the conscious decision to trump the baseline ref to make that call. Why would you take a guess in a situation like that? Game on the line, not a good vantage point, etc.. Wouldn't it be logical to assume that if Cooney's foot were actually out to just leave it to the baseline ref? I just don't get the thinking of refs who decide to disregard refs w better vantage points. No way he could see if Cooney's foot was touching the line. The foot was in his way. X ray vision? Thinks he is Superman. You defer to the baseline ref. The A hole just made it up. Fishy. Wouldn't let him ref a CYO game.
Agree 100%. Personally I hate replays because they take flow out of the game. However, if you are going to use replay, why in the world would you not make it available it for a play like that? NCAA wants to correct some mistakes but not all mistakes? How can that not be reviewable? It's not a judgment call. NCAA rules committee really needs to get their heads out of their asses this offseason.
As soon as the call was made, I was saying, much too loudly according to the wife, that he was not in any position to see if Cooney's toe touched the line, that the the Zag player w2as between him and Cooney and that he might not even be able to see if the Zag fouled Cooney. The only official who could have seen Cooney's foot and the line was the baseline official. He erred in not forcing that other ref to have a conference before making the call official. That's unbelievable. That's the ref bet on the game kind of BS.
