Rickie Collins

Some of you really don't want Rickie to succeed.
Everyone wants him to succeed, it's up to the
Coaches to put him in position. What people don't seem to understand , after the 1st quarter against Tennessee we went toe to toe for 3 quarter and had a chance to close within 1 score. Then we went into Death Valley and played better then LSU against Clemson.
Tennessee is probably top 5 in the country and should have beaten Georgia, but right now Kirby is the best coach in America.
It appears Fran has a lot more talent then we realize, inexperienced but getting better.
Rickie needs to relax and manage the game with the talent he has around him. The only team left on the schedule that might have more talent then Tennessee and Clemson is Miami, and they have a coach who always fins a way to lose a game he shouldn't.
This should be a fun year.

Fran and staff have a far better eye for evaluating talent than our past coaches this century. I trust that the staff sees more potential in Collins and will put him in a position to succeed.
Angeli looked less than stellar for most of the ucon game and look what happened.
Let's see what happens in the next two games before we call Collins a no talent disappoint. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.

I don’t like some takes here. The truth is we don’t know much about Collins yet and some could end up being right on his ability, but maybe not as well.

What we do know is he didn’t sulk one bit when being passed over for an incoming transfer. I don’t care who you are, that utterly sucks when you are brought in, named the starter, then said to take the backup role. His attitude during this has been incredible and deserves full backing.

Just remember, Angelli did not look like he did yesterday, when he played Tennessee and most of UCONN. He grew more comfortable and developed. Collins may be painful to watch for a few games. Just support him before calling for his head.
Short memories here. People were calling for Angeli to be benched and now the season is over because he’s hurt.

Rickie has the arm and the legs. Thing he’s lacking right now is confidence because of barely any playing time and reps at cuse. Once he gains that, I believe we’ll start seeing competency. Once the hitch goes way and he starts letting it fly you’ll see a different Rickie. Just like u saw a different Steve 4th quarter against UConn and onwards

Yes that’s him. I think he actually won his first start.
I think he came in against FSU when the QB was injured.

Edit:Austin Wilson went down and AJ Long came in against FSU 10/11/14. We lost 38-20

Sounds right. I said he won his first start, which came the following week vs Wake Forest.
I can’t believe I’m sitting here in 2025 in a debate about AJ Long. 🤪😆🤪😜🤪😜
No debate. Just remembering. I remember thinking about how overmatched he looked, and marveling at how he occasionally flashed despite that. AJ wasn’t right, but I admired his fight.

We know the coaching staff saw in the spring how good Collins was. They decided that there was a need to get another portal QB. Also Pena worked with Collins and he left for a better opportunity to catch passes. We will see in the Duke game what potential he has to lead the team. Duke game is huge. Afraid SU will need to put up a ton of points to win it.
To be fair he was injured and there was risk he wouldn’t be ready to go and/or not effective.

Also they felt strong enough to make him the starter for the season. They could have waited.

This UCF offense is what I'd like to see our offense morph into with Ricki Collins at QB.
He was 25/32 223 yards, 1 TD and no Ints with 34 points
I think their QB has alot of similar traits as Collins.
Not alot of straight drop backs, not alot of reads, but alot of movement, misdirection, RPO runs and passes keeping passes simple, direct, but everyone running free...

I liked Colin’s responses post game. Seems like a kid team will rally behind. If he can make good decisions and hit throws down the field he will be fine. Nice to have a kid of Luke’s ability as the 2 now also.
He is always smiling. Seems like a really joyful kid. If he can learn quickly, he will be a lot of fun to watch.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I was crushed when Steve went down. Have not been that deflated after a big win in a very long time.

It would certainly seem like our passing game will take a hit but let's see what Rickie can do. Like many, I am concerned. That is mostly due to the unknown plus what we have seen. Still, Rickie had a nice TD drive when he came in.

I was very impressed with how Rickie handled not being QB#1. He was very supportive of Steve, he was classy, he was team-first. He emphasized continuing to improve and being ready in case he was called upon to help the team. That is what a solid teammate does. That is also what a true leader does.

So, I'm all-in on Team Rickie. It is his opportunity, and I hope he comes out blazing. Will he be successful? We all hope so. He may not be and that is yet to be determined. Until such time, he deserves to have the fan base behind him. I'm behind him and I am sure the team is as well.

It’s manifestation time again. As we are about to head into the new week, I will work on projecting images onto the back of my eye lids or just in my thoughts when work gets a little slow. Hope you join me in envisioning levels we haven’t yet seen and take them into Saturday.
